    Macbook pro i9 2019 16 inc A2141

Hi everyone. Yesterday I tried to turn on my Mac, but it showed no signs of life. I opened it and saw this burned out element. Can anyone tell me how to fix it?

That is a tantalum polarized capacitor that has exploded. Very likely the part is shorted and causing a very low resistance to ground which is forcing that power rail to shut off.

The large black bags under this region are your batteries. For this reason you cannot hot air this capacitor for replacement. The battery pack can heat up and explode or cause a fire.

The board will need to be carefully removed and the part replaced. Would you have a local phone repair shop in your area? Mention the above details to ask for a quote. We can look up the capacitor value next.

Thank you very much for the answer. I have a few shops that repair cell phones in my area but I don't have much confidence 🤣🤣 But I will ask for a quote and the type if it can be seen. Thank you

The tantalum capacitor that has exploded is C7600.

See below and share with the pending tech. Be sure to ask them if they are comfortable with low level soldering of SMD (surface mounted devices) parts. As noted, the battery pack should not be heated because it is a serious fire hazard and can cause injury or death.

Next, need to find a suitable replacement part. Will chime back later with details.

Here is a suitable replacement - tantalum (polymer type; 16v; 3528 footprint) - the package is slightly smaller than the B3 case style used by Apple but should be ok to solder into place on the board. Often when such capacitors fail, they simply short circuit across the pins so this power rail should have a very low resistance to ground. This action then forces the power rail to turn off. That is, by replacing this part, you should be ok to operate the unit again (crossing our fingers).

Thank you very much for the information, it is very useful. I will ask directly about the elements you sent me and hopefully they will find them.
