Led status indicator light transfer plastic

Hello, the LED status indicators on my Lenovo Z580 are not working. Actually the motherboard LEDs are working but the light doesn''t coming to the front view. The plastic part is which you can see in photo must transfer the light to the frontview but just half of the plastic is illuminating.

There are three status indicators on the front (power, battery, caps lock), and none of them are illuminated.

The plastic piece doesn't appear to be broken.

    1. What are your suggestions for resolving this issue?

    2. Is the plastic piece made of special material?

These are called 'light pipes' and they are used to deflect the direction of the original LED so it is visible to the viewer. You can try to google / check Aliexpress for 'Lenovo light pipe' to see if there is a hit. Someone in mainland China is making these. I have met with many manufacturers of the same for our enclosures we use in production but hard to say who owns the tooling for your exact Lenovo model.

Thank you so much. Looks like I'm pretty lucky. I came across someone who was very knowledgeable about the subject. But it's a shame that it's such a special product. I realized that it was a completely broken part. Thanks again. Have a great day.

I am baffled as to why the LED does not travel through to be visible. If you indeed can see the led ON on the board, it should be ok to lift out these tiny clear plastic 'lense' like units. Perhaps a bit polarized and someone before you already messed around with the orientation? Personally have a fetish for ultra bright leds and we place them on everything. Buying them in 100,000 pc lots and the manufacturers in Asia always ask - do you want to buy Grade A or grade B? In the led world there is also 'binning' where the vendor will make sure the led from one batch will match the appearance of another for the color, intensity, etc. This is a must if making LED signs. Cannot have off colors on such devices.

Can you post a better pic of these light pipes? You may be able to cross them to other companies and buy from Mouser or Digikey. For this, you must measure with a micrometer for the length x width x height.

Unless something is blocking the led light, it should be visible through these tiny plastic parts.

            Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Sharp LC50LE752E no picture and backlight, indicator light is lit
            by roy.zhero
I acquired a free 50” TV. IT is a Sharp LC50LE752E. It does not show a picture and has no backlight, although the indicator light turns blue meaning it has turned on.

When power is plugged in, the indicator light will turn on blue, the backlight stays off and nothing is visible, even with a flashlight. When pressing the touch buttons on the tv nothing happens. When pressing buttons on the remote control the indicator light will blink indicating the IRsignal was received, but nothing happens.

When I hold the force-on-combination it will turn on. It then shows a perfect...

Lithonia Lighting versus Light of America Compact Fluorescent product quality
            by sam_sam_sam
I have a Lithonia Lighting 65-Watt Gray Hardwired Compact Fluorescent

I also have back when Light of America had these light bulbs available for yard lights

The issue with Light of America was the blast boards had all most certain board failure while bulbs hardly ever fail

While the Lithonia lighting fixture has all most certain bulb failure

So I have modified the Lithonia lighting fixture to accept the Light of America light bulb and see how long this will last

I have only had this light fixture for not more than a year if it...
