Need Help Reparing Ants infested Macbook

Hello guys. So, I bought this "dead battery" Macbook Air 2015 A1465 hoping to make it good enough for personal use.

When I got home, it turned on right away but indeed, battery was stuck at 1%. But after around 5 minutes it died and wont turn on again, no lights on charger.

Opened the laptop, lots of ants inside, cleaned it up with isopropyl alcohol. Found that PPDCIN_G3H_INRUSH capacitor was shorted, so replaced it and re-assemble it.
Laptop turns on fine for about 15 mins, did a reset and while reinstalling Macos, the laptop became intermittent, charger gets disconnected randomly again and again. But everytime, it boots back up.

The issue gets worse and worse. When I was about to sleep, it can't turn on for more than around 10 seconds anymore. Sometimes no light on charger. Then, next day I tried turning it on again, died after the boot chime and won't turn on anymore. Orange light still present.

So, opened the laptop again, while charger plugged, found that PPV42_G3H inductor is warm. Then unplugged, checked resistances, PP42_G3H inductor had 50 ohms even though the voltage is present at 3.4v. Also found that PPDDR_S3_REG has only 5 ohms.

Lifted the PPDDR_S3_REG inductor and low resistance is on the load side. Injected 1v, it pulls around 0.2 amps but can't feel anything hot. (Don't have a thermal cam unfortunately).

Is this machine done for? Asking just incase there is any hope left lol. Should I try injecting more voltage? Any tips is appreciated. Thanks and sorry for the long read.

    Gross.

Review this flow chart. On a positive note, your chassis is very well documented:

Thanks, I have poked around for voltage and even have PM_SLP_S4_L but the short is what prevents it from turning on it seems.

If it's a short on capacitor or something, I will have 0 ohms instead of 5 ohms right?

Flooded the board again with alcohol, still short.
Washing it with warm water, soap and little amount of vinegar as a last ditch resort. Let's see how it goes

                It's 820-00164-A.
So, it turns out that the short was on the memory (dram chips) not the CPU, I removed all memories and now short is gone. Tried soldering ram chips from a dead CPU A1466, after soldering the chips, measured all resistances again, no shorts that I can find.
But problem is the board is still not turning on. Haven't tried putting the board into the chassis and press the power button, but afaik it should turn on when charger is plugged.

I have PM_PWRBTN_L, I have RSMRST and PM_SLP_S5_L which i believe to be towards the final power sequence. Not sure how to move forward, please suggest.

PS : Memory replacement isn't the same brand, original was Hynix but replaced it with Elpida. But both of them are 8 Gbit LPDDR3 memories, so I assume it to be fine?

Thanks to the article u linked, I found out that i dont have pp1v2_s3 which is also linked to ppddr_g3h. While i was trying to find out the reason, the RAM chips died again. 150-200 ohms dropped to 11 ohms or so.

So I lifted the ppddr_g3h coil, then plugged the charger, the coil pad has 2 volts instead of 1.2v. I wonder this is what's killing the ram chips, or can it be because i lift the coil?

Well, the cpu literally blew up while diagnosing. I even fixed the ddr rail issue, problem was the dram controller, replaced it and got normal voltage now.

This is the second time cpu shorted on me while diagnosing. There was nothing wrong on the cpu rail (atleast not that i know of). Everything was working except the ppddr rail. Sadge

                        Hi everyone!

I have a 2018 MacBook Pro (with Sequoia OS) that I've been using for years with no problem. I recently received an M2 MacBook Pro so I'm mostly using it and not the 2018 one, but since a friend of mine needs a computer, I thought I could restore my 2018 and give it brand-new-like to my friend.

I tried using the built-in tool to restore the MacBook (Settings > General > Transfer or restore > Delete) but it got stuck when trying to remove the Find Device configuration (it asked me for the password for my old Apple ID -now I use the same account but...

General question about MacBook power rails for repair.
                        by SarcasticOP
I am looking at an A2337 and found this for the order of power rails and what they do. Can this be confirmed before I dive into hunting down power rails that do not exist or are not neccisary?
                        • PPBUS_G3H (12.6V-12.8V)
                          • This is the main power rail that supplies power to the entire system. Check this rail first, as it must be present for other power rails to work.
                        • PP3V42_G3H (3.42V)
                          • This power rail is derived from PPBUS_G3H and is used to power the SMC (System Management Controller) and other essential circuits. It should be present if PPBUS_G3H is working correctly.
                        • PPVRTC_G3H (3.3V)

I’m working on one macbook air 15” m2 that was water damaged.

keyboard, lcd, microphone connectors were damaged so i’ve replaced all of them and without screen connected macbook worked fine. Keyboard &trackpad and also lid sensor was working fine.

i’ve put macbook in shelf and order new screen so i can fully repair it.

Now i got the screen and macbook stays at 5v 0a.

i’ve tried if it’s not in DFU with another macbook but it’s not detected at all.

i don’t have schematics so i don’t know where to start can someone help me?...

Sorry,I'm using my phone right now and couldn't find any search bar to search on the topic of macbooks.
Few weeks back(mid may),I had bought a MacBook pro m1 A2338. It belonged to my friend's younger brother who was a graphic designer,he gave me this MacBook without any icloud account linked to it and I had so much work during that times that I only used it for storage while traveling for shoots (I'm a photographer). So long story short, his brother got involved in a bad accident and was in coma and then fairly recently they pulled out his life support. I mistakenly did an erase Mac and...
