    Aspire 5730Z

Hello folks, I've been doing repairs on this laptop. And decided to exchange upper plastics for new (touchpad, left buttons etc). After replacing that upper piece of housing my touchpad along with my mouse buttons stopped working.
I've put bad the old one and it still isn't working .
Its enabled trough FN+F7 and it isn't recognised trough device manager.

So now this laptop works only trough USB mouse devices, also measured all voltages on the connectors and they have they 5V's.
The connectors are cleaned and let voltages from the MB to the touchpad.
I am now clueless what to do next.

I also tested both touchpads on my other laptop (extensa 5620) and they work perfectly fine there.

        Thanks guys for fast response.

@dspok yes flex cable was tested with multimeter works fine, also the flex was tested in my extensa and works normally as they are identical built.

@selldoor Windows 7 and Hirens on these 2 I have tested it.
Yes its plugged in, and tried 3 different flex cables which all work in my Extensa 5620 (its the same flex cable for touchpad).

Exchanged HDD, reinstalled Windows. That would be it, of course along with replacing the upper case of the laptop.

I had to test it again these freaking touch pads and they work perfectly fine on my Extensa, after swapped them back to Aspire and none works again tried trough Hirens and Windows 7, in Device manager they aren't detected indicating that something is faulty on the MB side.
Bios offers nothing regarding the touch pad.

maybe as well as windows you need drivers from acer to be installed?
Some dells have to have specific dell drivers.
              Latest bios installed?

perhaps the windows vista one from here

                Re: Aspire 5730Z

Ok after putting new HDD I freshly installed windows 7 without any drivers, and it worked. Note that this happened before touchpad exchange.

I used before this problem also Hirens over usb and it worked.
But since i changed thetouchpad nothing works. I installed drivers but they are useless since my hardware isn't detected. I am running out of options to be honest.

Well sad news regarding this laptop. Now my keyboard works only when choosing which OS will i start, or at safe mode etc (also works when i wake up my laptop from sleep), getting into BIOS or any kind of System it stops working and what really interesting is the Southbridge is freaking hot.

Try to reflow your KBC chip first (U39 ENE3310). Or better replace it.

                      Re: Aspire 5730Z

I'll try it today, looking the schematics it indeed controls the voltage output to the slots. But it also "drives" my buttons (wifi on, volume up/down) and caps lights which work all the time perfectly.

Did testing on my motherboard so if my touch pad isn't connected on
TP_DATA and TP_CLICK I get 5V (according to schematics its fine)
If I connect my touch pad I get 0.96V on these 2.

Also the laptop starts as soon as I plug in my DC (if my batter is in and it won't). So in theory when he gets voltage he does this. Also the PWRBTTN is powered by the KBC chip (which get the power from the Intel ICH9M chip).

                          Re: Aspire 5730Z

I think this will be the final update. So I was a bit curious and measured all voltages on mc KBC chip guess what they are fine. After as previously stated the touchpad blocked my keyboard (that was a bit fishy) but what totally fishy is I plugged an older touch pad (from previous acer) and it transmitted the right votages to the LEFT and RIGHT buttons (namely 1V) and it didn't blocked my keyboard (ofc its not supported by the board so not working).
All in all I'll order a new one (costs me 10$ touch pad but this time a "new" not used). And I'll report to you folks back.

Here is an update, so a new touchpad (brand new one) solved the issue.
Fact is the old one works in another laptop. So if someone encounters this just change it (with a brand new on even if the old one works).
                            Lock it .
