Beginner in need of some guidance

    Hello,

I am a newb to chip reprogramming. I purchased a ch341a with the Clip adapter as I accidently bricked the bios on a loved ones Dell Inspiron 15 7548.

I am now on THE QUEST to understand the fundamentals of this skill set as it is much needed in my family.

I am now at the point where I am attempting to extract the bios from .exe that i downloaded from the manufacturers website.

After 4 attempts I am stumped and frustrated. I have never used a Hex Editor and wondering if there is a way for me to do it without the Hex Editor? If not then what do i need to know in order to get this bios chip working again.

    thank you

Suggest to post the same request inside of the above dedicated BIOS forum. Someone there will be able to assist you with the full details.

I used to use 7zip. I got this off google. To extract a BIOS from an EXE file using 7zip, right-click on the EXE file, select "Open with 7-Zip File Manager", navigate through the internal structure of the executable to find the BIOS file (usually named something like "bios.bin" or "boot.img"), and then extract it to your desired location; this process may require some exploration within the EXE's contents as the BIOS file might be embedded within other data.
