It has just happened to me as well on MacBook Air M2 A2681. LCD from XJS, it worked properly at first, but then I wanted to remove the screen again for testing another MacBook. When I reconnected it again, clipped the battery connector on, boom - 1%, not charging. Battery is at 100% health and 67 cycles. Has anything worked so far for you guys? I tried reinstalling Mac OS with no success.

No, nothing on my end nor anyone else who has posted in this thread. I did have a brief chat with Master Liu of YT fame out of Shenzhen. He said he avoids the use of the full display assemblies for this reason and uses the ultra fine discs (his product) to carve out the defective LCD using the original chassis. Understand this is not a resolution but apparently working for now. This issue is on our things to tackle once we have some 'free time'.
What I would do...
1) measure the battery voltage when all parts are fitted together
2) place the SMBUS SCL / SDA lines on a logic analyzer to study what exactly is going on in the communication channels between the charger IC and the battery pack
3) Is the BMS of the battery pack now in a locked state after this process? If you see the same results with different battery packs, will assume NO.
4) Does the firmware / OS stop the support of the battery pack due to the use of a non-Apple LCD? Perhaps. Booby trapped firmware to crash due to non-Apple parts?

Watch this video - I have not to completion. Not sure if he has the battery charging fixed or not.
