    Weird Toshiba R600 boot issue

    Hi all,

Had this Toshiba R600 from a friend for a while. The issue:

Plug in DC adapter, white charging LED lights up.
Press on button - white charging LED converts to amber flashing light with the following error code (in case anyone knows the Tosh codes!): 1) short 2) long 3)short 4) short 5) short 6) short 7) short 8) long

Very, very rarely, it will turn on and boot up out of the blue, albeit very slowly.

Tried another BIOS battery to no avail - any ideas where to check before I dig into the machine?

    Edit

I believe this to be the code meaning:

    14h
Current sensing IC is not normal.

Or - some places say you read it LSF first, in which case it would be 82h?

    Edit again!

Found the service manual. It's 82h - 1GD-PGV voltage is under 0.425V when the computer is booting up.

The service manual says "replace system board." USEFUL!

Alienware Area-51 R2 Boot Loop issue.
    by abajor
I have the above mentioned Alien Ware A51 R2, currently it randomly will boot into the OS but more often than not it boot loops, I'm assuming there's an issue with power regulation somewhere.
It comes with Dual 180 Watt Dell PSU, which is ironic since the thing claims it requires 420 watts in the bios screen.

To rule out the power bricks I've attempted to power up the Laptop with a 330W and 240W Dell PSU at the same time, it still has the same boot loop issue so the problem is definitely the laptop.

Right now I'm trying to dig through the PDF schematics and Board...

Dell G3 17 3779 Weird power cycling and shutdown/restart issue
    by SuperJames
This one's a weird one, and still unsolved despite it having gone back to Dell once.

    Specs

i7-8750H, GTX 1060 Max Q, 500GB SSD & Seagate 7mm 1TB HDD. 17.3 IPS screen. This has the fingerprint reader in the power button.

    Backstory

I bought this from eBay, from a wallpapering shop. £650 in 2020 which was a good price considering it's a gaming laptop. Physically it's in perfect shape, apart from the hinge mounts on the palmrest failing in the time I've had it (I have a new palmrest for it). The usual thin plastic crap modern build quality!...

820-02020 Super Weird Issue: Keyboard Input Character Map "Wrong"?
    by ugamazing
So, I have a really bizarre issue that I'm struggling to identify the cause of. Working on an 820-02020 board with some bizarre keyboard/input-source character mapping. My suspicion is a possible damaged SPI ROM (U1970), perhaps, but I'm really not sure in this case:

    1. The issue is pretty weird, but when installing MacOS, I noticed my WiFi password did not work. I quickly realized the special characters (!@#$%^& etc) were not mapping correctly.

    2. I noticed the keyboard layout/input-source is defaulting to JAPANESE every single time I restore the board. I am not...
