    MSI Katana GF66 - no power on, taking 20v, 0,055A.

    Hi guys,

    It's my first post, because till now I found everything on this forum, but I'm little bit stuck now, so I'm asking you for help. It's my first gaming laptop, so I need some advice .

    I bought defect MSI GF66 Katana with GTX3060 GPU.
    First when I open it - you can easily notice - somebody open it before, but I didn't found any tech working for it, just maybe somebody open it for cleaning.

    What I did so far:

    Replaced parts:
    • ALC233 - was exploded
    • APL5934C - was exploded
    • 2x FDPC5018SG - went shorted when I took out UP1666Q.
    • UP9512Q - was hot
    • UP1666Q - was hot
    Now i noticed also one exploded SLG5NT1757V, and when I bridged VIN and VOUT other, second the same gets hot, so I'll replace two of them.

    I didn't found any more shorts, so decided to connect to power supply. It takes 0,025A and than goes to 0,055A and stays like that. Chipset and KBC getting little warm, but doesn't look like shorted. I checked all capacitors around those components and nothing look shorted. I'm stuck now, I don't know what to do next - there's no reaction on power button.

    I have boardview of similar board attached. It's GF76, not 66, like mine, but how I can see - it's almost the same. So following that boardview - I don't have +5RUN and +3RUN. I don't know if I should have it on that point.

    Also that 0,3 Ohm on GPU makes me wonder, but I read online - GTX3060 can have that resistance.

    So how you can see - 1,8V, 3,3V, 5V are present. I found also 1,0V near SLG5NT1757V.

    Please find also graphic with my measurements.

    I'm still pretty noob in gaming laptops but I hope that your help and diagnostic steps will help me in the future and I don't have to ask that kind of questions again .

    Thank you in advance.

    Best regars,

      Thank you for answer.

      RUNON:
      U=0V
      resistance to ground: raising up from 40kOhm
      diode: 0,626V

      RUND:
      U=0V
      resistance to ground: 3,5MOhm
      diode: 0,623V

        Is anybody have any idea ? I will really appreciate that .

        Is that maybe EC chip or something with chipset? Some missing signals? I have no idea…

          Check PQ30/PR316/PR310. RUN_ON will be released by SIO U25. So nned to probe its basic requirements.
