    HP Envy 13-BF0013DX Laptop Motherboard Intel® Core™ i7-1250U CPU 8GB N15665-001 I messed up bad

Can someone tell me how i can locate and what is the most cheapest way to find this voltage regulator. College student. discovered repairs and fell in love with it. I connected a 12 volt motor to my 5volt usb port and the motherboard stopped working charging no lights nothing. I took it apart, good at doing that bad at putting it back together"joke" sortve.
I attached a picture please if someone can tell me what that part is and how i can get it i have a soldering and air gun. Not in a rush. The reason why i need to change this is because i accidently disconnected the battery while the charger was connected so now i have to fix this and THEN fix what was the original problem but no rush.

on the chip it says 5AG15 or 5AG16 or 5AG18. The 5 might even be a S but im sure its a five.

Share the topside markings on this part. The package is sot23-5.

Does that mean if I go on ebay and search sot23-5 I'm set?

When I search sot23-5 and 5AG16 i found a picture that looks almost identical with 5AG1G, is that it?

Yes, it is. Attached is the datasheet for this component. Very likely you can replace this component with another manufacturer but the best solution is to purchase the same as what is onboard.

            GMT part # G517G1TO1U

A valid replacement is the following but will allow up to 2A current through the port vs. 3.4A (original):

TPS2001D Current Limited, Power-Distribution Switches datasheet (Rev. A)
            * SOT23-5 package

TPS2001D data sheet, product information and support | TI.com

            TPS2001DDBVR Texas Instruments | Mouser

Comment: Flux and remove this part off the board. Practice on a donor board if you are not used to desoldering such parts. Keep the hot air local to this component and away from nearby plastic parts that will melt with the same hot air = not good. You can protect the plastic parts with a metal shield / aluminum foil to block the hot air. If this part is removed, then this defective component will no longer pass the voltage downstream onto the load. Most likely this part was linked to the VBUS pin of the USB port that was damaged. Respectively, you do not need to replace the part immediately but note that the linked USB port will no longer function to power the USB device (ie. mouse, keyboard is using that USB port).

The computer wasnt turning on at all even before i ruined this part. Im not sure what would cause the computer to not charge. This part only went bad when i left the charger connected and disconnected the battery. Do you know where is a place where i can purchase these thigns in general. EBay and Amazon didnt have the parts Thank you for your help. Its incredible.

If you are not in a rush:

                1) create an account on the TI.COM website - make up a name for your engineering company. Request free samples. Often the samples will arrive within a few days and the orders are filled through Digikey / Mouser in the USA.

                2) purchase from one of the many vendors on Aliexpress:

TPS2001DDBVR - Buy TPS2001DDBVR with free shipping on AliExpress
                * the TI part is a drop in replacement for the damaged USB load switch
                * in general - we trust TI to be onboard our many designs over offshore brands like the load switch that was on your board

                3) Aliexpress also offers the original switch that was damaged:

G517G1TO1U - Buy G517G1TO1U with free shipping on AliExpress

Thank you I was able to verify on Aliexpress, and i purchased 5 of the originals. Once I install these by the time I receive the chips I should have received by solder paste and thats pretty much it. Then I will see if that fixes the issue, if not then I will try to figure out how to trouble shoot my board to see what is fried (its possible the problem was the sot23-5 to begin with). Thank you. Guess we have to wait. mon2 Thank you.

Subject is a blank screen issue in HP Envy 17-3290NR 3D version laptop with motherboard Louis V1.1 6050A2489901 MB-A02. Production year is 2012. This one is a 2nd hand motherboard which I could use it for few months only. Suddenly no output from the internal display and also no signal from HDMI port then Windows out of order after few boots.

Caps lock working normally and no HP's caps-lock warning blinks. Making a hard reset and replacing the RAM sticks or using different slots didn't help.

Fans are spinning. Blindly could install windows11 and got the device manager...

Friend messed up my laptop motherboard while working on my bench
                    by Geeker007
                    Hi All,

So my friend was visiting and he wanted to use my solder bench to solder on some WLED circuit board. My laptop was open on the side for RAM upgrade. I know my mistake.

So while soldering he had too much solder on the soldering iron tip and he just shook off the soldering iron on the table itself to remove extra solder on the soldering tip and it landed on the motherboard of laptop. He then out of fear tried to remove it using solder wick and did more damage by removing some components as well. So here I am with weird situation.

                    I have not tried putting...
