Good morning all, I am back to the issue. I will replace the MB as it si quite chip. Before buying I need to be sure about MB model. The laptop is a X240 i5. As the laptop is not working I can get additional information about i version of CPU. The market offers several models and I found an i5 4th. I am not sure about "i" generation...how can i solve this doubt?Leave a comment:

I can't believe that...I thought it was a joke...That is an Ethernet transformer and this corner chipping is a common problem when you peel off the sticky foil. Keep hunting as this may not be the fault.
x250 broke, doesnt boot, beeps . this chip is all busted inside, what is it : r/thinkpad (reddit.com)

Ok. You probably need to open the laptop to get a more clear symptom/sign of failure.
Like a (partial) shorted power rail for example.Leave a comment:

Hi, "vielen danke" for you help. I did exactly as you requested. I have tow USB sockets and readings with a Fluke multimeter are as follows:
socket 1: data pins, diode mode, 808 - power pins, ohm meter OL;
socket 2: data pins, diode mode, 268 - power pins, ohm meter OL.
I tink I did it correctly.

Check the Data Pins, the middle two in the row consisting of four, in diode mode. Black probe to data pin, red probe to GND.
When switch to Ohms mode, range 200 and measure the outer pins. One is supposed to be GND, one is supposed to be the 5V rail. Red probe to the pins, black probe to GND.
Share the readings here.
Edit: But seriously, i don't have much hope for your device.
data pins: both USB pins give ohm reading 270 and 830 ohm
power pins: both power pins give OL.
Yes I have just little hoep...just give a try.

Ok let me explain. We had to connect a USB cable from an automotive dash to the laptop for diagnosis. Unfortunately my friend connected the USB cable to the wrong dash connector. When I plugged the USB cable to the USB port the laptop died. To give a full picture, I did not check the connection so I went straight to the connection. I used my laptop (HP ELITEBOOK 820) and the laptop "died" for a while but later on went back to normal operations. On the ither hand tha Lenovo died as I wrote.Leave a comment:

Lenovo X240 - motherboard VIUX1 NM-A091
Hi all, due to a mistake a friend connected a wrong USB pin to the laptop. The laptop immediately stopped running and never get back to normal functioning.
If I connect to the power supply the only sign that I have is three blink forn the power button and in accordance with user manual this only means that a power supply has been connected. With battery no signs at all. My understanding is some hw problem to the mb. The laptop is an old one but still working so I wonder if it is worth to repair or buy a new mb for 25/30 USD. Does anybody have suggestions what to to or check before throwing into the garbage bin?Tags: None

by delositHello everyone,
I’m working on a Lenovo IdeaPad XiaoXin Chao7000-15ARR (Ryzen platform) and I need some help with BIOS reconstruction.
Unfortunately I only have the bare motherboard (no original chassis, no sticker, no working system).
The laptop came with black screen.
What I have:
- Original SPI dump read from the board (W25Q64DW 1.8V, 8MB)
- Official Lenovo BIOS update (.CAP file)
- Photos of the motherboard (front and back)
- Board powers on, but with original dump it stays black screen
What I tested:

Friends. I beg you to help me in this situation.
Lenovo X240 with a video problem. Native Intel drivers are not installed,
after installation, a black screen. It works with the standard Microsoft driver.
Understanding that there are problems with the video core,
I ordered a motherboard from Lenovo X250.
The laptop turns on, starts up, there is no image on the internal display.
The image is output to the external monitor.
I ordered another motherboard from Lenovo X250.

by rddubeHello everyone,
OK, so here is my issue.
This Lenovo B470 motherboard I am troubleshooting died and I identified it is the discrete Nvidia graphics chip that has lost it's ways!
So I removed it and now I am trying to change this motherboard to use UMA graphics, but I am having an issue interpreting the attached diagram. I have a 10K resistor in at the R2013 position and another one at the R2012. R2010 and R2011 are empty.
The motherboard starts, the fan spins but no display. It turns off by itself. I restart it and it does start but stays on...08-12-2024, 02:01 PM - Loading...
