        Either way, what heats up is the culprit of the short circuit. So it's probably a dead end here, except you find something else heating up.

          Thanks for the help.
          Unfortunately, I don't have a thermal camera yet, but I will invest in one, and then I'll take a closer look, processor overheating doesn't seem to be a short circuit the low current consumption suggests something else. Of course, the processor could be faulty even without a short circuit. It's very difficult to tell.

          For now, I'll set this notebook aside and continue later when I have the proper equipment.

            Whenever there is short circuit on 1V/1.8V/2.5V rail,its usually the SOC. rarely you get lucky finding a shorted cap.
