    L300D PS10AP - no post, power cycling

Got this board today. Got the usual problem with these AMD based L300 boards - no POST. But no NEC Tokin.

Most of the time, it will power on, wait 5 seconds, power off, repeat that three times and then stay off. Occasionally, it will stay on but still with no POST.

I've checked PAD504 and found there was no NB VCC voltage. So I checked the adjacent TPS51117 powering it, and found there is in fact no CPU_PWRGD signal triggering the 51117. And since CPU_PWRGD is linked to the THERMTRIP signal, that's probably what's causing the power cycling.

I've checked, and CPU Vcore is there at 1.1v. Should I replace the tantalum caps incase they've gone high ESR?

Loads of people have this problem so I'd like to get to the bottom of it.

    Schematic:

    Thankyou very much!

On further investigation, CPU_PWRGD IS present (I really need a new DMM). The problem appears to be a short on the VCC_NB rail.

first check Q512 if you get V1.8s .then check u18 for PWR_GOOD_3 presence . because PWR_GOOD_3 enable U512 which enable CPU_PWRGD.

i have already repair this type of faulty board and it was Q512 the problem in my case

sorry thought CPU_PWRGD was not present .

A bit of progress - NB VCC only reads as shorted and 0v when it decides to stay on. When NB voltage is there it power cycles. Maybe something NB-related?

Otherwise, all voltages appear to be present. NB VCC PWRGD is present, CPU PWRGOOD is present, PWR_GOOD_3 is present. The shutdown is not a thermal shutdown, I checked Q550. No idea what this one might be.

Actually, just checked Q512 - reads as conducting in both directions from source to drain, source to ground reads short, drain to ground reads infinity.

But I've found three other MOSFETs on the board that also read shorted from source to ground. Is this sometimes normal? Or do I actually have a ton of failed MOSFETs?

New discovery, it doesn't power off with no CPU present.

                  Hi all

There's two other threads about this monitor with seemingly the same problem. The problem was resolved in one case by replacing the entire PSU board and in the second one by replacing an unknown IC.

                  https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=40512

The first one has pictures of the pcbs and I noticed that there's one IC and assorted caps not populated on mine (but the PCB itself looks identical) so I thought that'd warrant a new thread.

It's my dad's old monitor. He...

A2141 820-01700 Power cycling (DFU worked ok)
                  by mon2
Hi. Working on an A2141 that is power cycling. Powers up fine (20V @ 3.1A peak) -> fan spins ok and then at a higher speed (after we removed the trackpad so the sensors are missing) -> chimes ok but after the high fan spin -> power cycles and repeats this loop. We did manage to DFU the unit with revive mode (4/4 steps completed ok) -> resulted in a brief padlock graphic before power cycling. Unable to toggle the keycaps led since the boot does not reach this far of the cycle.

Q: Does the DFU process validate that the nand flash is OK ? We do not wish to restore this board...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
                  by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

                  Samsung UN55FH6030: random power cycling
                  by valvashon
Samsung UN55FH6030, perfect size for my office and does OTA well but isn't a smart TV. That's OK because I am a TV station engineer and only need it for OTA monitoring.

About a month ago it started power cycling itself once or twice a day and now it's nearly continuous once it's been on for a few minutes. Changing channels would really start it cycling and it would take several minutes to stabilize but now it's just doing it almost non-stop without changing channels.

Once I disconnected the antenna I found that I could change channels with no issues. My guess is...

                  Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74 power issue

                  Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...
