    Toshiba L40 weird touchpad problem

I have a Toshiba L40-14l which is basically just a member of he L40 family
I have this weird problem where the touchpad doesn't work properly
It appears that the right button is stuck down.

When I scroll across the screen using the touchpad its the same as using a mouse with the button held in.
The left button clicks and shows as being clicked in the touchpad icon by the clock
The right button shows as being held down.
I have checked and I have the latest touchpad drivers installed.

I've tried a usb mouse and this works perfectly, I'm guessing its something on the motherboard itself, maybe a cap? Hopefully fixable

I have tried several things to try and fix this but none work,
    so far I've tried
Changed the touchpad for a known good working one
Checked the actual buttons and they work properly
Changed the button board "just in case"
    Changed the touchpad cable
Cleaned the contacts in the ribbon holder on the motherboard
    Cleaned the ribbon contacts itself.

So I'm stuck, anyone got any ideas what it might be, or how to fix it?
    I'm hoping its something simple.

Tried booting a different OS (try a Linux liveCD)? This sounds like a software problem.

forgot to say tried that already
apart from putting a new blank drive in and installing a fresh copy of Windows, I also booted it from a Linux stick and it did the same thing.

      It's definitely hardware - unfortunately,

hi you try to change the adapter if you have an extra because you adapter may be low in ampere because that is common in toshiba with low ampere

boot into safe mode and see what happens then, check bios for any setttings for touchpad enable/disable, reset bios to defaults and see what happens, check ribbon connector on motherboard where its soldered to motherboard especially the ribbon clamp, check for continuity of ribbon cable and make sure the ribbon cable doesnt have shorts between tracks.
