Re: What is this electronic component?
Actually, as it says there on the board "PD", I would say both are some sort of power diodes.
The one on the left could be this one:
FAIRCHILD SEMICONDUCTOR - SS34 - DIODE, SCHOTTKY, 3A, SMD, DO-214

Re: What is this electronic component?
It looks like every component designator (R = resistor, C = capacitor etc.) is preceded by a 'P' for some reason.
Just noticed the one on the left, I imagine that will be a diode.
Maybe the 'P' is for Power board...System: HP xw6600 Workstation, 650W PSU | 2x Intel Xeon Quad E5440 @2.83GHz | 8x 1GB FB-DDR2 @ 667MHz | Kingston/Intel X25-M 160GB SSD | 2x 1TB Spinpoint F3, RAID0 | 1x 1TB Spinpoint F3, backup | ATI FireGL V7700 512MB | Sony Optiarc DVD +/-RW | Win 7 Ultimate x64 | 2x Dell UltraSharp U2410f | Dell E248WFPComment

Re: What is this electronic component?
uhm interesting.
Now, Am wondering if a bad capacitor could be causing the power to continuously recycle -causing a strange humming sound. It is a very low humming sound however.
thank you for your help thus far.Comment

Re: What is this electronic component?
I doubt the P signifies 'power Cap', 'Power resistor' etc. - look at that tiny resistor on the left, no way is that a power component.System: HP xw6600 Workstation, 650W PSU | 2x Intel Xeon Quad E5440 @2.83GHz | 8x 1GB FB-DDR2 @ 667MHz | Kingston/Intel X25-M 160GB SSD | 2x 1TB Spinpoint F3, RAID0 | 1x 1TB Spinpoint F3, backup | ATI FireGL V7700 512MB | Sony Optiarc DVD +/-RW | Win 7 Ultimate x64 | 2x Dell UltraSharp U2410f | Dell E248WFPComment

Ah, you edited your post...System: HP xw6600 Workstation, 650W PSU | 2x Intel Xeon Quad E5440 @2.83GHz | 8x 1GB FB-DDR2 @ 667MHz | Kingston/Intel X25-M 160GB SSD | 2x 1TB Spinpoint F3, RAID0 | 1x 1TB Spinpoint F3, backup | ATI FireGL V7700 512MB | Sony Optiarc DVD +/-RW | Win 7 Ultimate x64 | 2x Dell UltraSharp U2410f | Dell E248WFPComment

Re: What is this electronic component?
The board is from a laptop that gets power from an ac adapter which may explain why those resistors aren't very big? lol Am not a genius at electronics.Comment

Re: What is this electronic component?
Other than "p" stands for power, I have no other clue what it might stand for lol.Comment

Re: What is this electronic component?
Well, it is pretty convincing I mean. The "P" only show up near the battery area and the ac adapter socket area.Comment

Re: What is this electronic component?
That, if I'm not mistaken (At least the one on the right), is a tantalum capacitor.Comment

Re: What is this electronic component?
Ok very nice. Now does anyone know how to read the codes on the capacitor that tell you what the ratings are? I might think about replacing themComment

Caliper? sounds high tech. I don't really have a caliper but i think i can measure it in mm with an ordinary ruler. It is 8x5 mm.Comment

Re: What is this electronic component?
So I'm looking at the two big ones on the right-hand side, the ones with the markings:
330 6DS7 D...
I looked at a few pictures from various manufacturers, I just can't find anything. I'll try to keep looking. Where did this come out of?Comment

Re: What is this electronic component?
PD = Power Diode
The others are PC.
Which I think must mean > Power Capacitor.

Oh, this came out of a neoware laptop. Now, the company is owned by hp.Comment

Re: What is this electronic component?
Also, Tantalum caps usually commit a pretty nasty suicide when they go bad (i.e. they burn out - literally), so if it's a Tantalum, it's unlikely to be bad if it reads normal.
With that said, I would suggest you check the rest of the components in the charging circuit - particularly power rails being shorted to ground. The buzzing could be because there is an overload in the charging/power circuit somewhere.

PQ is for transistor. Just ignore the "P" prefix and you can see that this board has standard marking. C = capacitor, D = diode, R = resistor, Q = transistor, L = inductor.Comment

by nunofccGood afternoon, I come to ask your help to identify which is the electronic component that is marked in red. It is found on a notebook motherboard.
What is the component called?
And if it's normal to overheat?... -
by thesameHy guys , i have a DVR board DS-80104 REV 2.2 that was powered wrong, i have some smds on the board that are blown and i can't identify them , maybe if someone has this board somehow and we can identify the smds', i have searched online and i can't find a schematic.
The smds are SOT-23-6 , one of them i think it has the marking ADJF since i found another one on the board with this marking , but the other one it seems that it starts with AG or it looks like. I would really apreciate if someone could help me identify those IC's .

by silver60618Hi gang, its a long shot, but working on Lenovo Legion Pro 7 motherboard NM-F091, and trying to identify this component near GPU with marking "eHFQH" that is burned and shorting the board. Looks like power management IC
I couldnt find any schematic or boardview. The CPU side also has same chip. Any way to identify this chip? or take measurements from the good chip to determine what it is?
Any help would be appreciated... -
by chth96I mistakely pluged 100v japanese retro game console to 220v outlet.
So It seems that glass fuse and varistor have been blew up.
I can identify that voltage and ampere value of glass fuse(250V LF 1.6A),but It is impossible to identify varistor type in my sega saturn PSU(YAMAHA 35M07U XR258)
Is there any way to identify varistor type in my sega saturn PSU?
Any reply would be appreciated.
EDIT:
It seems that I finally found out what type this black varistor is. It is Panasonic ERZV05D221 “ZNR” Transient/Surge Absorbers (Type D) Varistor Voltage...2 Photos -
by sam_sam_samThis is a new item at Electronic GoldMine that has arrived within the last few weeks
Here is the link for them I know for sure that it works because ( I tried it on mine soldering station ) I bought two of them and I just bought two more of them so I have some extra replacement ones in my parts bin
