    MacBook Air A1466 SSD issue

    Hi everyone

I have a samsung s4ln058a01-8030 SSD that is wrong a MacBook Air A1466. It is getting very hot near the Samsung chip.

    1) Does anyone have the schematics for this board?;
    2) Does anyone know what each chip is?; and
    3) does anyone know why the Samsung chip is getting hot?

    Thank you so much!

Ha quite a few of those go bad. They're so cheap now, I just install a working one rather than try to fix.

Guide to transplant MEC1503 EC chip and EEPROM reprogamming for T14s gen 2 and X13 gen 2
        by acedogblast
This is a guide that I am writing for helping others to replace their MEC1503 EC chip if it breaks (or to get around an inconvenient prompt to the BIOS). This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. You MUST have experience and tools to do precision micro-soldering, BGA reballing, trace repair, and general laptop repair skills.

There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as...

MacBook Air A2337 (820-02016) USB-C Port Issue – Only Works in One Orientation (CC Line Problem?)
        by rounin
        Hi everyone,

I'm working on a MacBook Air 2020 (A2337, board 820-02016) and running into a strange USB-C issue. I've gone through quite a bit of testing and part replacement, but I'm stuck β€” hoping someone here can shed some light.

        πŸ›  Original Issue
        The machine initially wouldn't negotiate 20V over USB-C β€” stuck at 5V.
Diagnosis showed PP1V5_UPC0_LDO_CORE shorted to ground.

I replaced U3100 (UF400) using a donor board (A2179), and the machine powers on fine now.

MacBook Air A1466 820-00165 Charging Issue
        by DominikPechac
        Hello everyone,

I have a problem identifying a problem on this MacBook Air A1466 with board 820-00165.
A customer came in with a problem, the laptop was not charging. Otherwise, it works fine - runs from a battery without an issue. The battery is original, the customer also provided his original charger.

However, when I was diagnosing the issue, I turned the laptop off, checked the board, etc. When I put everything back together, the laptop was charging (I inserted the charger and then turned the laptop on). After unplugging the charger and plugging it back,...

Samsung Series 9 - BIOS issue
        by Kjell
After installing Linux, I can no longer enter the BIOS of my Samsung Series 9 (NP900X3C) laptop. When pressing [F2] during boot I simply get a black screen. Same thing when pressing [F10] and choosing "Setup" from the "App Menu" tab. Apparently this is a relatively common issue with Samsung laptops of that generation, but unfortunately i haven't been able to resolve the issue (yet).

Things i've tried so far; reinstalled Windows 10, checked for redundant boot entries, tried to factory reset using the emergency keyhole, attempted to clear the NVRAM by physically...

Requesting help identifying chip in Macbook Pro A2485
        by Loki_Fido
        Hi ya folks,

I have this MacBook Pro A2485 (M1 Pro 2021) which came in for repair.

It had a shorted SSD power supply chip. Therefore it was stuck at 5V.
I replaced it and the SSD are fine. No more shorts.

But The mac still pulls 5V and 200mA. If i leave it alone for 5 mins, the mac manages to receive 20V and 40mA. Of course, which doesnt mean the mac starts after power meter reading 20V.

But while the mac is stuck at 5V, i checked the board with thermal and found this chip was trying to start. Chip picture is attached.
        Chip marking...
