Re: Macbook A1466 Maybe Q7180
Started checking all the Power Rails .
PPDCIN_G3H_ISOL PPDCIN_G3H Coming to 15.2V
PP5V_S4RS3 is 0V
PP5V_S0. is 0V
PP3V3_S4 is 0V
PP3v3_SUS is 0V
PP3v3_S3 is 0V
PP3v3_S0 is 0V
PP3V3_S4SW_SNS is 0V
PP3V3_S0SW_SSD is 0V
Didnt go further to the 1.8V and the other rails.Comment

Red To Ground.
Checked at the J6100 Pin 12
Resistane Value is .464.
R5100
Pin 1 is 78.8 (Had to set the meter to 200k as was getting 1 in 2k mode)
Pin 2 is .464 (Meter in 2k Mode)Last edited by Instafixx; 07-03-2023, 07:10 AM.Comment

Re: Macbook A1466 Maybe Q7180
.464 = 464 ohms. That is a low resistance to ground for this signal line.
Someone is pulling down this line. It could be the SMC or something under the package or the reset ic at u5110.
Carefully flux and remove u5110 but note the pin #1 of the ic. If this IC is at fault, the resistance will be much higher.Comment

Re: Macbook A1466 Maybe Q7180
Voltage at Pin 1 is 3.42V. PP3V42 is fine since i am getting a magsafe light.
Resistance to ground on Pin#5 pcb pad after ic removal is 474 ohms.
I can see flux paste around the SMC. Someone might have tried to give some heat.Comment

Re: Macbook A1466 Maybe Q7180
Your SMC appears to be partially working based on ppbus_g3h voltage.
Suggest to carefully flux and reflow the SMC.
Then allow it to cool and check the resistance of this signal line again.
If all is well, the resistance will be higher.Comment

Re: Macbook A1466 Maybe Q7180
SMC and U5110 bot have been removed and reballed.
It isnt going to the Recovery Mode
I guess BIOS flashing is the only option left. Or something else needs to be done?Comment

Re: Macbook A1466 Maybe Q7180
there was no need to reball - reflow smc since board was booting, but if u reballed it right then now we know smc is perfect.Comment

Re: Macbook A1466 Maybe Q7180
no recovery because of some error or what ? u can use usb windows pc keyboard and pressing windowskey+alt+r to enter recovery. if that doesnt work just keep pressing R on boot just after u give power to the board.

I do not have PP5V_S0 at all. No point touching the q1920Comment

by psdavid65I received a 2013 Macbook Air A1466 820-3437-B motherboard with serial number C02L6GQ9FSV8 that came in WITHOUT a bios chip. I got a new bios chip and reprogrammed it. Macbook now powers on but doesn't boot the SSD. I've flashed a ton of bios but still same problem. Windows installation works with this Macbook but never a mac installation. Unfortunately, since I didn't receive this macbook with a bios chip, I don't have the original bios. What can I do now?...

by echothegamerHello all,
Working on my wife's 13' Macbook air. It's been in a box since she upgraded but I figured it could be good practice.
Details:
Macbook 13' A1466
Board (820-3209-A)
Battery OEM 7.3v 50Wh 6700 mAh (020-7379-A)
Pictures below of Boardview and schematic...
I don't know how to test the voltage on a MacBook battery. I just assumed it had an enable pin but the best I could read was 300 something mV poking around the battery connector.
It's an older model and it is very likely that battery has become... -
by dbuergiHi all,
i got a A1466 with serious water damage. I was able to clean the whole board and only found a fuse with a coroded trace. Cleaning and resoldering did the job and the macbook started normal but after some time the screen began "flashing" like turning on and off while the Macbook was still running. I checked the board again but was not able to find the problem until now.
Any ideas where to look?... -
by Sergio KubCould someone help me?
I have a Macbook Air A1466 EMC 3178 - 2017, board 820-00165 and sometimes the boot interrupts with an image of a folder and a question mark.
Could it be the BIOS? -
