Are laptop keyboards interchangeable for testing purposes?

Hi All,

Just wanted to ask for laptop keyboards are the pinouts standardized? Reason why I ask is we have a Lenovo S145 where the G,H,L,' and down arrow keys are not working. I've updated the bios, reinstalled the drivers, confirmed the issue persists in bios and all did nothing. I then disassembled the laptop and can see the fingers that slide into the board side connector all of them are pretty oxidized and two in particular look like they have broken connection.

We've got a stack of "new" laptop keyboards so I was hoping I could connect one of them to see if that resolves the issue. Didn't want to order a replacement to then find out that does not solve the issue, despite it definitely looking like it should.

Nice, thanks didn't know they existed. Placed one on order.

In the meantime, has anyone had any luck using conductive pens to repair ribbon cables? Bought some yesterday and filled in the broken sections of the two fingers I mentioned earlier. Looks fine now but when I diode mode the top of the finger and literally 1 mm down I have no continuity despite the whole finger looking intact under the scope. The product page does say to dry with hot air which I did and says it becomes *more* conductive over time, but I've left it overnight and still seems nonconductive.
