Re: Asus Rog Laptop new battery still 0% Biard issue?

ok guys i finally got the g4 gud mosfets i installed it now i get lights.. Hard drive spins.. The otger ssd drive gets little warm.. I get 20v in most areas and 12v and 5v and 1v .. but doesnt want to boot up? Is it normal for these gaming laptops to power up the hard drive without pressing the power bitton?
heres a video , thanks guys.

Did you already give all resistance to ground on every coil and also try an extern keyboard on to see if capslock is responding? If not responding will say the board is not posting i would look into for bios issue.

so what should the coils normally measure in ohms?

Yeah its wierd ssd gets warm and the 2.5 inch drive spins.. but doesnt want to boot.. maybe the bios did take a crap?

But i did notice after replacing the mosfets one of them gets no voltage at all ? i checked all the other similar mosfets and they get some sort of voltage from 1v-20v ..

maybe power is not passing through that line ?

The original mosfets were "G4 GUD "

        THE closest i found were "G4 GUC " ?

coils ohm measurements are all diff, some are 1ohm near the cpu/gpu some are in the Kohm some are OL ? im just afraid if by changing the mosfets since there so close to the cpu /gpu if i fried them. How can i test the bios chip ?

Re: Asus Rog Laptop new battery still 0% Biard issue?

You need to give all resistance to ground over all board wothout any power and give also the voltage you have on the coils too that with power. so that somebody can help you where the problem is. Put it on hd picture. I said to see the board connect usb keyboard and see if capslock respond. If it does then will it say the board is posting and bios is working. Good luck

All coils have voltages but the ones near the cpu have nothing.

Clear the mess in the circled area(black) and post a clear pic of the highlighted area. measure resistance to gnd on Vcore /VCCSA/VCCGT coils in ohms mode. No power should be attached while measuring resistance.

the ls a resistor on the left just bad soldering lol , the burnt cap area is cleaned no short thats just uv mask.

Which coils should i check ? sorry dont know what lines those are. I should get voltage on every mosfet right? but the G4 GUC mosfet one right under the burnt cap is getting no voltage on either side. maybe wring replacement mosfets? Original ones were G4 GUD , i only found G4 GUC ?

So what is the issue right now is the board working and not the battery?

No it doesnt boot.. Lights come on, hard drive spins and ssd gets warm. But wont boot. But why would those kick on withoit pressing the power bitton?

"coz the mb is turning on. This happens when you remove cmos cell/flash bios/backup battery not attached/removed. So thats not the issue. Vcore will rise after all its requirements are met(as long as its not shorted).

Check whether you have +VCC_SA/1.05V rails running. The resistance on CPU seems bit low to me-Have seen 2-3 ohms atleast but may be correct as its a gaming board.

Can you toggle numlock or capslock on external keyboard?

the cmos is around 2v and i tried with battery connected and dissconected same thing..

                              I do get 1v on a mosfet near CPU / GPU.. I see 1v, 3v , 5v , 12v 20v all over the board..

                              But where is +VCC_SA/1.05V ?

Just that one mosfet i pictured near the burnt cap area not getting any voltage on S G or D ..

VCCSA coil will be near to cpu. Normally 4 coils are there for vcore, one for vccgt and another one for vccsa. 1.05 rail coil should be near PCH. Post a clear photo of the area near cpu so that we can try to identify vccsa coil.

Ok only 1 coil has 1v rest no voltage..

I came across something interesting when measuring voltages on those little mosfets , they ones i pictured getting no voltage on any side. If i place my finger on it while measuring source i get voltage of 4-5v then dropping? ( its not loose solder joints i redid 3 times ) I think the gates on these mosfets need 5v to turn on? I do notice a restitor or something near those mosfets that has 4-5v maybe that line is cut? Is that possibly the line that feeds those mosfets gate?

i think i found the issue , maybe missing component here ?? These points have continuity to the gate? The other similar mosefts all have a component that connect to the gate.

Its on the corner of the board near the gpu Asus GM501GS maybe a scematic will verify ?

Cant say anything in absence of schematic but very likely its not populated from factory.

ok got back to where it was last week.. was bad mosfet

Now still stuck on lights on.. sata spins...ssd gers warm.. but cpu and gpu cold ( off ? )
Can this be bios issue?, so close guys..
