I also am facing the same black screen as I wanted to install Manjaro Linux using a USB key and modified
    * / Setup / Chipset / Southbridge / OS Selection from "Windows" to "Linux"
    * / Setup / Boot / USB Support from "Partial Initial" to "Full initial"
after save & exit got the black screen...

So I ordered my ch341a... am waiting and discovered AMIBCP

Have you tried opening your own dumped "borked" bios bin file in AMIBCP, changing the Setup/Boot/Fastboot parameter (cf. attached screenshot), saving under new name and flashing the modified bios ?

Bios contains the Serial Number of the Y13 computer (cf. attached screenshot)... so maybe its not just information and checked agains someting/somewhere and that's why flashing someone elses Bios is not working for you when you flash it...
i try allready with another dump of some one and i change the serial u will find 2 serials but unfortnly not work

I flashed this bin file whose it the same version of mine.

I checked, erase, write , read and save it to compare to the original and no difference.

I desoldered all, check short circuits
Start the notebook and same result "Power led with black screen"

    No idear....

What tool did you buy to do the trick?
    Thanks in advance.

I managed to solder directly on the chip after one hour of fight.
I got the dump of my bios (I doing it twice time to compare result and the both files are identical).

Does the parameter to change in the file is my picture proposal (A Vs B)?

Thanks again for your help and hope my story can be help anyone in this adventure

Direct read from a chip on a board rarely works, so you'll have to remove it. I think in that kit, they give you a small PCB to solder the chip onto. You have to use hot air for WSON8 EEPROM's.

There is another adaptor I use that doesn't require soldering if you are interested. You have to wick the pads clean usually and clean up in IPA before good contact is made though.

I used a voltmeter between 8 and 4 and I get 1.8V so the voltage was set correctly.
So I think it's the connection with the clamp around the chip...
I will try to weld it but it's very very small....

Re: Clear CMOS on unowhy Y13 Ultrabooks on motherboard

i tried with another chip from an older motherboard

    Asus M4A785STD-V
    Chip : CfEON EN25F80
    https://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datash...N/EN25F80.html
    Full voltage range: 2.7-3.6 volt

so without 1.8v adaptor i get something from the chip (No detect automatically, i selected it manually)

    see capture too confirm

So the issue can be from Adaptor or chip
    I don't have others chip in 1.8v

Be sure your tools are supporting and configured for 1v8 operation. Otherwise this flash chip will be killed.

You will need to remove the flash chip off the logic board and then proceed to use the programmer to read / write / erase the chip.

Be very careful on the hot air tool that can and will hurt the display or any nearby plastic parts. Keep the air flow low and ample flux to remove the part. Practice if required on other donor boards first.

I received everything needed but I find an empty chip

Before plug ch341a key on pc (windows 10), i check with a tester the good contact with pins on motherboard to the adaptor 1-1 2-2 3-3 ....

The chip doesn't be found with asprogrammer, i selected GD25B64C in the device list manually without success

thanks for what i am wrong

Wondering if this thing is a rebadged Chuwi, as it sounds like they have the same issues on those lappies. The settings seem to be stored within the EEPROM and are non-volatile. Hence why removing the battery won't work. Cheap garbage from China.

    https://forum.chuwi.com/t/i-need-a-w...2778/65?page=2

Where to get a donor BIOS from though?

This kit on Aliexpress has everything included the 1.8V adaptor.

On board read/write of SPI25 EEPROM's is a bit hit and miss for me. It's quicker just to hot air it off and put it in a programmer. If the EEPROM is near anything heat sensitive (or I don't want to take the board out), I use Chipquik on the pins and it will just come off with an iron.

Any SPI25 programmer will work, even CH341. You may need a 1.8V adaptor though if the EEPROM you are trying to read is 1.8V variant. Check datasheet of the EEPROM to confirm.

    Can i used only pin : 1 2 4 5 6 only (used O for the welding) ?

I've no idea about raspberry as i've never used it. Any SPI programmer will read /write your bios chip. If you dont have the tools, you can get it done by a repair shop in your location.

I watched a lot of youtube videos on eproom flash in recent days

But this problem (black screen after changing a setting in the bios) happens several times on noname motherboards (like pipo X8)
Because the manufacturer uses a common bios with all the options not available on its own device

I can't read the chipset number So I can't figure out how to make a short circuit (pin x to pin y) like a clearcmos jumper without the risk of burning it.
My last chance, as you both said, is to read the eproom with my rasbperry (I've never done that before ) to read/delete/write I also don't know the voltage for this chipset (3.3V?)

    any help are welcome
    Thks

Lenovo IdeaPad XiaoXin Chao7000-15ARR – only motherboard available, need help reconstructing clean BIOS
    by delosit
    Hello everyone,

I’m working on a Lenovo IdeaPad XiaoXin Chao7000-15ARR (Ryzen platform) and I need some help with BIOS reconstruction.

Unfortunately I only have the bare motherboard (no original chassis, no sticker, no working system).
The laptop came with black screen.

    What I have:
    - Original SPI dump read from the board (W25Q64DW 1.8V, 8MB)
    - Official Lenovo BIOS update (.CAP file)
    - Photos of the motherboard (front and back)
    - Board powers on, but with original dump it stays black screen

Asus ROG Strix Scar G533qm with a G733qm Motherboard, can I modify the Bios to accept G533 Bios
    by glovecaps
    Hello,

I have a Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 (G533QM) that had a dead motherboard (Graphics card dead) and after trying to fix the motherboard with no success, I bit the bullet on a sale for a new motherboard. I ordered a motherboard for the 15 inch model which is the one that I have, and when the motherboard arrived it wasn't for a little while that I saw it was from the 17 inch model.

My question is, can I update the Bios on this G733 motherboard to a G533 Bios.

The reason for wanting to do this is that the keyboard isn't working as it should, and I think this...

Legion Y540 17irh motherboard issue ( need help to know how to diagnose my motherboard)
    by Docus
    Hi everyone šŸ˜€,

I'm here today to ask for help with repairing the motherboard of a Lenovo Legion Y540 17IRH.

To give you some context, I'm passionate about computer repair so much so that I've invested in a lot of tools and started practicing on dead and old hardware. I've been learning how to solder and desolder components, mostly focusing on phone repairs.

Recently, I bought a broken Lenovo Legion Y540 17IRH for just €150, and there are two main reasons why I made this purchase:
    1. I already own the exact same model, but its plastic chassis is badly damaged.

    Hi Everyone,
I have brought you a mistery item
This laptop have come with some strange faults.
    1. CMOS battery was flat 0v
    Symptoms:
    - After using the laptop and shutting down and removing the AC adapter for at least 1 minute, the laptop never turned on until EC reset (either shorting RTC or removing battery and long pressing power button)
Amp drawing was stuck at 0.005 milliamps.
    - Laptop cannot really be turned off because it autostarts about 5 sec-1 or 2 minute. (lid sw is not the problem)

After inverstigation RTCD1 diode had a low value...
