    7v fan (??) in an xbox360

Seeing this thread I am wondering how can I get 7v from an xBox360 to get the fans running all the time, but avoiding the noise. I already modded an xBox making a hole on the top of the case and installing a 60mm fan (& grill) on top of the GPU secondary heatsink (the piece just in front of the CPU heatsink), running at 12v, pulling air (hot air, in fact). I have another one that I want to give a less heated life but I don't want to make a hole on it's top, and I don't want to spend on an aftermarket fan set (like 25~30, but that on top of the 360's price, is way too much). I know where to get 12 & 5v from the PSU input.
It is recommended to do this? I've seen people pulling 12v from the DVD power, but I don't think it is a good idea. I took it directly from the 12v input.
5v fans don't move much air and I don't want aftermarkets, so it is either the 5v fans running at 12v or at 7v.
    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

That should help you out, you should never pull the 12 volts from dvd line. Tap into the bottom of the motherboard where psu connects. I have all my 360's on 12 volt mod and it is louder but it keeps it so much cooler.

I've got a recapped Antec SP 2.0 running my 360 I made a guide on that site somewhere to modify an already available 360 to ATX connector (original pulled all 16 amps of 12V through one wire the mod deals with this balancing the load from 3 wires using the additional 2 12 V line wires on the 4 pin connector) a garden variety NPN transistor inverts the on signal polarity to the PSU. Takes the positive signal at it's base and grounds out the PSUs green wire.

The 360 uses a positive signal to kick the original PSU on I have no idea why.

With this setup it's much easier to get an easy 12 volts.

I agree solder to the power input pins don't go tapping off the consoles rails or anything.

Done the 7v thing. The GPU still overheats. Running on 12v or the system with the 3 position switch and no overheat.

RTX3090 working fine but fans not spinning
            by emil_t
Hello guys. I have a problem with a PNY XLR8 GAMING RTX3090 graphics card. The problem is that it displays and works fine, but the fans don't spin at all. The problem occurred when someone else removed the fans in order to clean it and broke one of the fan connectors. He replaced it himself and after that, it wasn't working anymore. I guess he damaged something else in the process. What i have done so far: I found 2 capacitors next to the connector that were in a bad shape, he must have touched them with his tools - they weren't shorted, but i replaced them with similar ones from a similar card....

Running Line Voltage and Integrating LED Pods - Automotive
            by FALKLAN
Howdy everyone! I hope all is well where ever you are!

I'm attempting to integrate a couple of LED pods into an automotive reverse lamp circuit. The problem being, while the vehicle is running there is a 8.5v current present on the reverse lamp power wire. Needless to say is that all LED pods and lights dimly illuminate while the 8.5v is present, so the LEDs are always powered on while the vehicle is running. When the vehicle is shifted into reverse, the voltage changes to 12 volts.

I am uncertain how to convert this line into a switched 12v output line for the LED pods....

            Good Afternoon, Good People.

I know this will be an elementary little project for most if not all of you, but I thought I would write a post and get put on track, rather than bumbling my way through it with all kinds of trials and errors.

I REALLY would appreciate y'alls help.

This is the problem - My wife and I purchased a big ol Victorian/Colonial House in NYC two years ago. The kitchen is surrounded on 3 sides by exterior walls, there is also a 1/4 of the kitchen floor (ceramic tiles) that has a crawl space underneath, and the kitchen gets FREEZING cold...

            Intel DH77EB schematic requested
            by BlueNGray
I have a DH77EB motherboard which has stopped responding to the power switch. I know that the power supply is not the problem, because I was able to get the computer to power up by momentarily pulling the PS_ON# line low on the power connector. This got me running for a while, but one day it got to the point where pulling the line low would cause the fans to start, but the fans stopped and the computer didn't boot when I released PS_ON#.

I tried visually following the front panel power switch from where it arrived at the connector on the mother board to some point that I could...

ThinkPad X1 Carbon 4th Gen running only at 400 MHz
            by rumpumpel1
            Oberservation:
X1 Carbon 4th Gen runs very slowly. Task manager shows the CPU running at 400 MHz.
In rare cases (1 out of 20) it runs at normal speed.
It does so when running on battery or only with the charger.
When both are connected - charger and battery (50% charged) - the system switches between charger and battery once per second.

The laptop does exactly the same thing when running Windows or Linux, so OS level problems can be ruled out.

Flashing CleanME and a different BIOS made no difference.
