Streaming TV box ?

H i guys i'm undecided if i should order Nvidea Shield? i' no gamer,only want to stream HD live tv,
and want i good box that can install Kodi,and the most important factor is the firmware support similar to Roku ,i have seen gazillions of boxes but don't know which one to choose.

Amazon Fire TV BOX if you're not interested in 4k.

The new Amazon Fire box does 4k. Optical audio out has been removed/swapped for a microSD slot though.

go to the vlc website and they have a page about what cpu's can hardware decode what file formats.
start with that - look for a box with the most flexable cpu - followed by the most memory.

The new Amazon Fire box does 4k. Optical audio out has been removed/swapped for a microSD slot though.

It does 8-bit, won't do 10-bit and beyond.
