Please see if it looks correct now, thanks.

I feel like a spare part here! No pun intended.

Where you are marking true? on the virtual PCB (very impressive by the way), are you asking for me to check something?

It will probably be the weekend before I can strip it out again.

Did you use the photos that I had uploaded to Dropbox in the end?

Sorry Guys. Just realised please totally ignore this comment about D1. It refers to the milk frother that comes with the coffee machine!!!!!

Yes i think budm needs you to double check if the points hes marked true? is where hes the circuit actually runs etc just to make sure his drawings are correct and match the board layout.

That big Metal Oxide resistor (Red, ?,?,? bands) looks to be for dropping resistor and looks like it got hot, D1 is the rectifier for generating DC for the running the circuit.
Is the Lytics brown cap (c?) next to C5 rated at 2.2uF 400VDC also?
Yes C5 and C8 are both 400V 2.2uF Manufacturer KT with a dot in between the letters. Other markings: RL13C PET

Metal Oxide resistor? Is that the one with the grey base or blue base?

You know where you have questioned TRUE? between 47 Resistor and other resistor which is the grey metal oxide one (I assume), do you want me to check continuity here?

Is that what you are asking? I am very new to all this so need to understand what is being asked of me.

Also, what are you using to markup because I need to mark up your edited PCB photo. I am on a mac and I am not that familiar with the highlighter in preview - it is very slow and tedious to use!

I can switch to a PC if necessary if there is a good markup programme?

That is correct, just to verify that those connection are made based on what I can see from the pictures.
So is it working or it still has shorted rectifier D1?
The big gray resistor looks like it got hot and I cannot tell what the color bands are.
I use the pictures from post #1 and scale them so the top and bottom are the same size to make the virtual PCBA.
Double sided boards are hard to trace the connections using the pictures that is why I put 'TRUE?' there.
I use PAINT.net on my PC.

It's another problem I have with the milk frother which is a separate piece of kit on the machine. It has a kettle type connector and I had accidentally commented about D1 on that PCB and then later realised that I have not done a post about that PCB.

So I didn't want to confuse but ended up doing so because you didn't have the full picture.

I'll check D1 on this board which someone rightly said is a GS1M and report back.

Just really busy at the moment so may take some time to update.

Thanks for everyone's help on this so far.

                          by MeetingIncapable
                          Hello,

I am new to repairing computer electronics, so excuse any mistakes I make.

A friend of mine had a broken graphics card (MSI Radeon RX 5700 XT MECH OC) and gave it to me. It does not power on or show any signs of life.
I identified what looks like the remains of a blown capacitor at the bottom of the board (see picture).

I wanted to replace the capacitor, but I have two questions:
                          • Does this repair have a chance of working? or is a blown capacitor a sign something else is wrong?
                          • How do I determine the rating/value of this capacitor? or something
                          ...

                          Hi everyone,

I'm new to this, so I apologize for not providing enough details. Is there anything else I need to mention? I'm trying to learn more about electronic/board repairs and hopefully fix my own.

The only visible issue on my board is one capacitor, CP813, which appears to be labeled R 221k 2kV (possibly obsolete to B 221k 2kV now). My monitor hadn't shown any prior issues, although it is a few years old. Just before the capacitor popped, there was a high-pitched squeal for 2–3 seconds.

I don't see any other visible damage anywhere else on the board....

i want to try a crazy repair which is hard because the mosfets are like welded on one side to the track. is there a method to get this loose ?

in this area another capacitor was shortet.
