    Original Xbox cap replacement

I'm looking at recapping both the board and PSU on an original Xbox for an in-law. It is a revision 1.6 and has some pre-2005 Nichicon HM caps that have failed. I'm looking for equivalent or better replacement to install.

Mainboard caps consist of Nichicon VR, Nichicon UC, Nichicon HM, Nippon SME, and Rubycon ZL

PSU consists of: Taicon PW, Ltec LZG, Taicon ST, Ltec TK, Ltec ST and the large Nichicon LS 250V cap (which will be left as is).

Is this sufficient information? Or do I need more detail? TIA

    Re: Original Xbox cap replacement

    make yourself a cap list.
you need the location, make, series, uf, volts, and diameter

    for example:
    c25 nichicon HM 1500uf 6.3v 10mm

then you lookup each cap in the makers datasheet and add the ripple current and ESR.

once you have all that, you can select equivalent or superior caps.

Current project is almost all Nichicon VX capacitors (20%) which appear to be discontinued. Any recommendations for a high quality replacement? Thanks

      Original Xbox 1.0 PSU: Foxlink FTPS-0002 Rev. B. — 12 V low, 5 V high — transformer?
      by ohren
      Hello!

I'm looking at an original Xbox PSU: Foxlink ftps-0002 rev. B. The 12 V output is too low, and the 5 V output is too (?) high. Unfortunately I don't have an oscilloscope but only a DMM for diagnosis.

      Measured voltages with no load:

      After rectifier diodes
      12V: 6.17 V
      5V: 5.67 V

Secondary transformer pins AC measurement (really don't know if this says anything)
      12V: 2-2.5 V
      5V: 1.04 V

I also have another (working) Xbox psu from Delta. The same measures there, in order, being: 10.79,...

Xbox One Original missing 12v enable signal
      by tccyo22
Hi there, I have an Xbox One original in which I have all the 1.8v, 3.3v and 5.0v standby power rails present, however my 12v rail is not turning on and the enable signal PSU_V12P0_EN from the SMC to turn the power supply on is missing. There is high resistance on this line so it's not shorted directly to ground which leaves me with not many options.

Was looking at a schematic and see the enable is created by the SMC. I have 3.3v on SMC_RST_N_IN but I'm a little stuck on where to look next. Is it likely that the SMC has gone bad or am I missing something else (it's my first time with...

      An Xbox One PSU Odyssey

Firstly I am not a tech. You guys may see mistakes or oversights in my methods so don't be bashful and feel free to post corrections/opinions.

      =>Background:
I bought my son a used Xbox One original model: A12-220N1A Rev: 02 with original PSU & 2 controllers 7 years ago. I “modded” the unit placing a 4.5” 12V exhaust fan with a 9v wall wart adapter on top of the vent/fan of the unit. And plugged the Xbox PSU into a Tripplite LTR-600 voltage regulator. Also connected to the Tripplite are a 275w computer tower, an Xbox 360 PSU and a Westinghouse 52” LED TV. ...

Seeking replacement for EOL Nichicon PLV1J220MCL1TD. Found APAQ and ELITE (CHINSAN)
      by DaveHarry
      Hi group,

I am looking for a replacement for Nichicon PLV1J220MCL1TD (22uF, 63V, Conductive Poymer Aluminum Solid Electrolytic, 8x9 but we can go up to 8x11).

While searching, I found some APAQ and ELITE replacements that would fit on our products (APAQ ARHA series and ELITE UGT and UPD series).

How good are these brand/series and what other alternative would you recommend? I've searched the big name already and didn't find an equivalent.

      Thanks!
