SVOD4 - Winbond 25R256JVFN SOP-16 - Verify False After Read

Hi All,

I am currently experiencing a bit of an issue with my SVOD4. I am trying to read a Winbond 25R256JVFN SOP-16 chip, however I keep getting "Verify false" after the read. I have tried the same chip with the same adapter in the RT809H and it reads the chip just fine. I manually verified the two reads from the RT809H and they are fine. I'm not too sure what's going on, so any help is appreciated. Here is the SVOD ver0.0.7.6 log:

P.S I have tried changing the voltage and changing the SPI speed, but it either makes no difference or won't even read the ID of the chip. I have also been able to read and write to and IT8227 EC chip with the keyboard extender adapter, so I know the SVOD4 is able to read other types of chips. I have also been able to read and write to a Winbond WSON 6X8 BIOS chip from a dell absolutely fine.

Verify the false read against the read with the rt809h.

CapLeaker I have two reads from each programmer. The two reads from the RT809H are identical, but the two from the SVOD are different from each other and are both different to the RT809H reads. I have uploaded the reads, if you want to take a look. Oh and thank you for helping by the way

Change the status register #2 so it has the same status as #1. Probably that why it fails.

I assume this is to change the status register? Doesn't appear to be an option to set them to the same value. And now I have accidentally set Status Register 2 to BIT 5. If I untick BIT 5 and click Write config, it keeps re-ticking it. QE was already ticked, but does the same if I try to untick it and click Write config

on a lot of flash the config is one-time.
in other words - you cant erase set bits.

Setting bit5 in status register #2 locks whatever is in status register 1 (at least that is what I thought). I think your programmer cannot handle QE (Quad Enable) and that is why you get garbage. You should be able to clear all that
SVOD4 often misreads SR2 when QE is set, causing “Verify False After Read"

CapLeaker Thanks for the info. I do find it weird that I have done these chips before on the SVOD with no problem. Seems odd that this one doesn't read correctly. Also, do you know if there is a way to untick QE? When I try to untick QE and set the config, it just re-ticks it straight away.

I don't have an SVOD programmer, so I can't test nothing. I do have an XGECU TL866II, a T76 and an RT809H. You do have a good copy with the read from the RT809H. Maybe try working with it?
