Re: PS3 Fat RLOD reflow and now overheating message
I've not dabbled in desktops for a good few years, but IME, most of the high-end C2D chips had the die soldered to the IHS. On the smaller, lower-performing ones however (particularly E2xxx series), there was thermal paste between IHS and die, and the IHS could be removed by using a sharp blade. I removed the IHS from an E2180 back in the day. Rumor has it it's the same with Ivy Bridge and Haswell too.Originally posted by PeteS in CARemember that by the time consequences of a short-sighted decision are experienced, the idiot who made the bad decision may have already been promoted or moved on to a better job at another company.Comment

Looks like Phenom II CPUs are soldered as well (http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=294013)
That makes me happy, since that's what I run. So there should be no TIM to degrade\dry out."Tantalum for the brave, Solid Aluminium for the wise, Wet Electrolytic for the adventurous"

Re: PS3 Fat RLOD reflow and now overheating message
I'm back!
Well, started to figure how to get that CPU IHS out of there without damaging anything...
And after searching what I had at home, decided to go with ... a fishing line !
A good quality one, and ... it worked !
Just placed it on the corners and started working it arround like a chainsaw.
It starts slowly cutting the edges ... and even slower on the middle ...but it's safe and some minutes will do it!
Some pics are attached ... on the first one, we cant see it well, but its just two tools with the fishing line attached to permit to work it arround the IHS without hurting our hands
Now some cleaning, some good paste ... and ready to test!
I'll post back results!
Hope these results can help anyone with this problem!

Re: PS3 Fat RLOD reflow and now overheating message
Well, applied new Thermal Paste, assembled it just for testing, and
it turned without problems for about half an hour!
Now I see the way to close this console!
Gonna assemble it completly tomorrow and fire it up for a couple of hours and confirm that the repair is good.
Thanks to all who gave the precious inputs!Comment

by rumpumpel1I have a T490 that displays the error message “2203: System configuration is invalid” immediately after the Lenovo logo every time it boots up.
This message must be acknowledged with 'Esc'. On the one hand, I cannot eliminate the problem, on the other hand, I have not observed any other restrictions.
Is it possible to change the BIOS so that this message no longer has to be acknowledged?

by Olvin1Hello everyone,
I’m kindly asking for help and advice regarding a reflow procedure for my laptop — Acer Nitro 5 AN517-52, which is equipped with an Intel Core i7-10750H processor.
I own an ACHI IR 6500 infrared rework station and would greatly appreciate:
• A detailed temperature profile for reflowing this specific CPU
• Step-by-step guidance for a safe and effective reflow process
• Tips on what to watch out for during the procedure
If the reflow doesn’t resolve the issue, I’m also considering BGA reballing of...08-01-2025, 01:59 PM -
by tony359Hello all,
I am experimenting a bit with reflowing larger components - ideally I'd like to reflow a PS4 APU or a GPU for example.
I know it's impossible to reflow such large components with just hot air so I bought a pre-heating plate, T-8280 classic Chinese machine, which seems to be working fine besides it's a little slow, which shouldn't be a big deal.
Now, my hot air station is a Aoyue 852A++ and I feel it's a bit weak when used with larger nozzle. I tried reflowing a laptop chipset using one of those large, rectangular, nozzles and I failed miserably,... -
by VenDell Latitude 3510 (Intel Core i7-10510U) CPU Overheating
Issue Description:- CPU Overheating to 100°C
- When I start the laptop from a cold state, it takes about a minute to reach temps around 80-90-100°C, and CPU thermal throttling triggers.
- When the CPU fan is running at full speed (by disconnecting PWM and TACH cables), CPU temperature stays around 50-60°C.
- However, when the fan is connected normally to the motherboard, it does not kick in at high temperatures.
- I also noticed a few times that the fan kicked in for a very short time, but it does not stay on consistently.

by Mr_NadaI saw some posts at one point talking about doing a reflow but I couldn't find them again so I thought that I would post this here.
I plan on reflowing the GPU of this old HP DV2500 laptop but I want to go over what I have and the steps I have to take to guarantee it will come out fine.
I have a Yihua 8786D 2in1 Rework station, flux (just some paste that I got from an old Radioshack kit), a couple rolls of Kapton tape and a $15 Thermometer +probe (a TM902C from EMR shielding Solutions if its important).- The paper that came with the thermometer states that the probe
