My (legitimate) massage therapist gave this to me to try to fix last time I saw here. Complaint was that it simply wouldn't turn on anymore. B&B have a rediculous return policy where you have to make a 3 minute video showing what the problem is, etc. Rather than mess with that Dana let me take it to try to fix it.
Verified that it wouldn't turn on. Don't remember trying to charge it before I took it apart. Found that the motor turned freely. Pulled the battery connector apart to check the voltage and the battery voltage was good- fully charged in fact at 11.3 volts. Plugged battery back in with reversed polarity (connector doesn't prevent it well) and heard a "pop". Nothing was visibly blown so the noise may have been an electrical "snap". Unplugged battery, plugged it back in correctly and was then able to start the massage gun. Gun works perfectly, massages at all speeds, turns off automatically, etc.
However, the device does not charge. It does not detect the USB-C cable plugged into it no matter what cable I'm using or what charger I am using. Should show indication of charging but doesn't. Should not be able to turn massager on while charger is connected but I can indicating that the charger is not detected by the control board. I'm thinking that the large, two legged device in the last photo is a protection diode but I'd like to confirm that before I try to remove it from the board. One leg it connected directly to the positive of the battery and this is the first device that would have been hit with reversed polarity. I'm not getting anything back from the numbers on that device.
Any advice? I could probably run the battery through some sort of external charging port but there is literally no room in this case to add anything.
Connector in first picture is where the motor plugs in; second picture shows the edge connector that goes to the switch control board, the USB C jack and the battery connector and the third picture shows the device I have a question about. It's marked "T090P03l2P" and "FJC712".
