    Xbox 360 S Failed RGH3 Repair

    Hello all,

I've just had my first ever run in with a mod failure. Really bummed about it, but hoping to learn more from it. It started as a means for soldering practice and ended with me wondering if it could be restored to function or if something were shorted and now dead.

This is an Xbox 360 S and the board sticker reads: X865009-001 Rev. D. It's a CORONA V4 (4GB nand, samsung ram).

When I apply power and press the power button, there is no fan movement or lights and all I get is the power-on beep. If I press the eject button I get the different eject sound beep but still, no fan movement and no lights at all. The power supply has been tested good and prior to the RGH3 mod attempt, this bad boy booted right up and worked great. 😅

I'm really not sure where to start on this one, especially since I don't have any light codes to track down a specific failure.

Any help is greatly appreciated. This one's been bugging me to figure it out.

Here are some things I've checked so far:
    • R4D3-R4D8 resistors all check out
    • No bent pins in any USB ports
    • No visible damage to wireless module/power button board

Edit: Also, all soldered wires have been removed. Back to stock.

start with what you know - the fans, follow the power and ground back to whatever fet or transistor is switching them.
then see if you have 12v still

Firstly I am not a tech. You guys may see mistakes or oversights in my methods so don't be bashful and feel free to post corrections/opinions.

          =>Background:
I bought my son a used Xbox One original model: A12-220N1A Rev: 02 with original PSU & 2 controllers 7 years ago. I “modded” the unit placing a 4.5” 12V exhaust fan with a 9v wall wart adapter on top of the vent/fan of the unit. And plugged the Xbox PSU into a Tripplite LTR-600 voltage regulator. Also connected to the Tripplite are a 275w computer tower, an Xbox 360 PSU and a Westinghouse 52” LED TV. ...

          by Themi
got given an xbox one x as dead, no pressure to fix as has been replaced and owner doesn't want it back

symtoms: press power button, white light, beep on and off almost immediately

          checks:
          • dead short on MEMIO test pad (doubt this is good but I don't have another board to compare against) injected voltage 1v nothing showing on thermal
          • checked under thermal during power on only slight heat in SB, everything else front and back of board cold
          • no shorts on any other test pads MEMPHY etc
          • has standby 1.1v, 1.8v, 3.3v, 5v
          • psu good has 12v
          • no 12v rail short
          • no short
