    ps3 slim 120gb

    Does any1 know what could be causing this problem..
    14mnth old ps3 slim my cousin bought this 2wks ago for his son for xmas..was working great then 1 morning when switched on just displays black screen..after several hours googling i tried the power button av default etc but to no avail

    The power lights are ok and seems to boot but no picture on av or hdmi..im stumped on what to do now..thx

    I dint know that these slim models of ps3 & xbox get GPU overheat problems but obviously they do..i did a relflow on 14mnth slim xbox with white display & sound ok..the reflow brought it back to life so im gonna try a reflow on this ps3 as local gaming shop said it was heat related problem..

      Just about anything with a lot of watts in a small case is prone to heat issues.

      Well, unless you have enough fans that you need to raise your voice. [Like a 1U server.]

          My servers are 2, 3, and 4U.
          Still not quite but fewer heat issues.

            My desktop computer has 8 fans... (overkill, but the case was free and it came with the fans and I can't be bothered to remove them.)

            and it's still quieter than the Xbox 360 downstairs.

            I like the Wii because it introduced the idea that graphics aren't everything. They aren't. I just wish that they'd made it HD from the start.

              He sold this ps3 for 40quid..he reckoned the av port & hd port needed resoldering..
