    Garmin Dashcam 20

Hi All, I have a Garmin Dashcam 20. It allows functions to work only if SD card is inserted but it freezes upon inserting a working SD card. So far I have cleaned the SD card socket with alcohol and all of the connections looks good. I also tried using a brand new class 10 SD card as its manual requires but still its not working. Garmin Express is also not able to detect the device.

I am able to get into menus using a bad SD card.

Let me know if anyone has ideas on what to do.

Try a factory reset, a firmware update, a different SD card, maybe a different power cable. I messed with these around many years ago. One instance in a large 18 wheeler truck, a brand new dashcam 20 did the freezing thing. A new power adapter fixed the issue.

Thank you for taking out time to read through and responding to my post!

After I posted, I was able to connect it via Garmin Express and firmware update was done. I ran the dashcam on battery so the power cable having issue is ruled out. As I mentioned in my original post, using a new SD card with same class category that Garmin prescribes - Class 10 still no avail. My next step is going to buy a new SD card with the exact same specs as mentioned below:

wipe the card with something powerfull like Gparted
cards are sold pre-formatted and sometimes have junk or hidden partitions on them

unfortunatly garmin being useless fucks dont actually say what filesystem they use.
but it may be FAT32 judging by the 32gig references

I would try a low level format using the PC, with the right filesystem. SD cards come pre-formatted with a lot of junk as well.

I have a Lukas dashcam and the in-camera SD card format is actually just a delete *.* so any issues with the filesystem such as wrong format type or corruption it cannot fix and the dashcam hangs. It's FAT32 I think.
After the in-cam format of a blank SD card, the cam creates a bunch of folders and puts a default config.bin file there if it can't find an existing one.

Always format the dashcam SD or whatever card in the device not on a PC if possible. I do that with all my cameras and video devices.
