Xbox Series X shuts off after ~6 seconds

This Series X came in for shutdowns. If I press the power button, I get button illumination and one beep. After ~6 seconds, another beep is heard and it powers off.

I've tried a hard reset, but instead of the reset, I just get the 6 second shutoff. I also swapped out the PSU figuring that was most certainly it, but it was not.

I've torn it mostly down and a visual inspection to the boards - nothing of note there.

    Thoughts?

AFAIK they stopped using HDDs and whatever storage is in there is likely SSD.
      Main rig:
      Gigabyte B75M-D3H
      Core i5-3470 3.60GHz
      Gigabyte Geforce GTX650 1GB GDDR5
      16GB DDR3-1600
      Samsung SH-224AB DVD-RW
      FSP Bluestorm II 500W (recapped)
      120GB ADATA + 2x Seagate Barracuda ES.2 ST31000340NS 1TB
      Delux MG760 case

Don’t know why people are debating this if it’s a Series X…they all came with NVME type SSDs (in a non-commercially available size).

There is no hard drive in this unit. Matter of fact, the media must be integral to the board because I don't recall ever seeing removable media on a Series X.

It M.2, hidden under a shield. It is removable.

it's also coded to the console - dont corrupt or erase the first partition!

So, what happens if the existing SSD dies?

To test if it was the SSD, I removed it, then used Macrium Reflect to copy that 1024MB RAW coded partition, then flashed that partition to another SSD, leaving the rest of the SSD blank. When I powered it back up with the offline update USB connected, this time it powered on, but then off after 2 seconds. My research on this concluded that this condition is the result of the Xbox not recognizing the replacement SSD - presumably due to not having that coded partition present, but I copied it... so I'm a bit confused.

Also, according to Crystal Disk Info, the original SSD from the Xbox was fine. Man, I've got so much time in this with no diagnosis. I may need to just stick to HDMI port replacements.

                    It's a custom drive.

if you do an update or it updates from online/game-disk it changes the code - so keeping backups is pointless.

i wont touch xbox consoles, they arent worth the trouble with shit like that going on.

Yeah, I'm going to do only HDMI ports from now on. Huge waste of my time.

I am troubleshooting Xbox Series X shutting off immediately after HDMI port replacement. I am trying to identify values of R18 and R19 resistors. When measuring across, they both show near 0 ohms. I do not know whether this is normal or what. Take a look at the enclosed photo for reference. Thanks.

Those are 0 ohms. Try looking at u82, that seems to blow if anything is shorted at the HDMI connector. There should be 3.3v on pin 1 I believe. And when turned on, pin 6 should have 3.3v. If pin 6 doesn't get 3.3v when turned on, replace the u82, you can find them on other boards. Any chance you could take a measurement of the GPU core voltage side to ground, how much resistance do you get?

I currently have an Xbox One S motherboard available to steal components from. I found similarly looking components with markings "KAD" on it. Is this the one I can use as a replacement? Take a look at the enclosed photos.

Try replacing the hard drive with a new one, this may solve the problem.
