Asus Prime x370 PRO bad bios

    Hi guys!
I have an Asus prime x370 pro mobo which suddenly stopped working. The screen went black and there are no error beeps or anything coming from it. Since all the voltage lines are there and everything else seems fine i desoldered the bios chip and copied its dump. I have 0 experience in this area and have no idea how to get the right bios version. So please can someone help me with a new bios. Here is my dump. Also i saw there were alot of bios versions for this board but i have no clue which one i would need so i guess any newer stable ones would be good.
Thanks in advance for all the help. S/N: 961981-03072-MB0TD0-B05 0504

Edit: I got this mobo from someone who already supposedly did a reflash of the bios with the CH341. I am almost sure he missed something or did it with the wrong bios. If this information doesn't change anything you can ignore this edit.

Hi You need to post the actual Serial Number (S/N) and not the PPID you shared (961981-03072-MB0TD0-B05-0504)

My bad! This is the serial number from the box: H3MCAJ003689. There were no other stickers on the mobo. Is there any other way to check?

The BIOS file you posted doesn't contain any DMI information

EDIT: The file you posted is actually BIOS version 0502 extracted from the ASUS website

This is the bios that was on the chip, but with it it never booted up. I bought the mobo from someone who claimed he already tried the bios reflash which didn't work for him. So basically he already did a reflash but from the information you gave me he didn't do it correctly. I will try to boot it with your sent files(thank you so much for the files!!! ) and report back what happens

Holy moly it worked!!! I flashed the 5606 version on the bios chip and resoldered it and it worked in the first try! Thank you so much Sparo for your help and flashing. If you don't mind can you tell me what you did with the bios dump to get it working? Below is proof it worked. Again tysm.

I don't remember every detail since I've been helping a lot of people lately, but here's the gist
Go to the ASUS website, your BIOS chip was already altered before you bought the motherboard, and it was flashed with the oldest BIOS version available (502)
That's why I extracted one of the versions with good feedback (5606) and shared it for you to try, along with the latest version (6232) There are also beta versions
To extract the BIOS from an ASUS CAP file for this model, you can remove the first 0x800 bytes (hex), i.e. cut off the first 2048 bytes from the beginning of the file
I think that's all there was to it. I'm Glad it all worked out and You're Very Welcome, enjoy!

Sparo but why do people then ask for a S/N number? Isn't that data stored in the first 2048 bytes? Does the bios chip the write those first 2048 bytes on boot? Am curious to find out what actually happens

Well, we ask for the Serial Number because it's part of the Forum rules. It also helps us identify the exact packages for your machine. That's why the rules require it to be typed out
Some users (not you) upload blurry or rotated pictures, which means we have to rotate the image, unblur it, and try to decipher the characters just to help them when they could simply type the serial number instead. And no, those 2048 bytes (800 hex) are capsule headers used by vendors for identification, compatibility/security checks, etc.
For example, they allow tools like EZ Flash to reject firmware intended for a different motherboard, and they may also contain signatures, checksums, hashes, and similar data
In short, it's metadata wrapped around the actual firmware image, so we remove it and flash only the raw firmware (since we know it's the correct one)
P.S: Your BIOS doesn't contain a serial number because it had already been flashed before you bought the motherboard, remember? I shared the relevant offset in post #'4

An old BIOS version (0502) will only support Ryzen 1000 series (Summit Ridge) and 7th gen AMD A-series CPUs (Bristol Ridge), anything newer than those requires newer BIOS versions, 3803 or later for Ryzen 2000; 4801 for Ryzen 3000, 6026 for Ryzen 5000; you have a Ryzen 5 2400G (Raven Ridge), the minimum required BIOS version that supports your CPU according to ASUS is 3203
Just update to 6232 unless you really need support for old A-series CPU
See CPU support list here: https://www.asus.com/supportonly/pri.../helpdesk_cpu/

                            Hi,

I have a serious problem to program the Z590 chipset SRAM with a Management Engine after replacing the chipset.
The new chipset is factory new and is not containing any Management Engine. Any attempts to program it into the chipset under Windows ends with a failure (eg. Error 20: Management Engine Device not present, or something similar).
Due to the lack of the ME several ports on the board, including all M.2 ports aren't working, booting OS works only on USB. So it's now other way, as to program the chipset with a ME.

Usually on ASUS boards it worked...

                            Hello everyone,

I recently bought a non-working Asus Zenbook Pro Duo OLED UX8402ZA that was listed for parts only. The seller mentioned that it had no display output but that the charging lights worked.

When the laptop arrived (without a charger and SSD), I connected a charger and confirmed with a multimeter that it was charging the battery. However, when I tried to power it on, only the backlight of the secondary display came on. There was no image, and it didn’t boot into the BIOS.

I decided to try flashing a new BIOS, but since I didn’t want to desolder...

With ASUS, not everything is quite so simple. I will show you my way. It may be longer or harder but it is the right way to do it in my humble opinion.

For example, you can have 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all being the same model, all of which will have different BIOS versions.

I will give you an example and my version of preparing BIOS from ASUS website and in the process I am always cleaning Intel ME while doing it so you have fully cleaned BIOS, no DMI data, no password, nothing.

This is the picture of 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all of them being X555LD...

ASUS TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI - BIOS Help
                            by grimacelord
                            Hello,

I have spent the last hour on this and I guess this is just over my head, so here I am.

I have an ASUS TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI motherboard here that needs to have the BIOS updated in order to accept the latest CPUs.

The BIOS chips seem to come as a set of two: GD25B64ESIG and GD25B128ESIG. My guess is one of them is a fail-safe for the main BIOS? I really don't know. Or one of them is ME and other is BIOS? I don't know.

Anyway, I took dumps of both chips and then downloaded the latest update for this motherboard from ASUS's website...
