Acer Nitro 50-640E Corrupted BIOS Dump

    Hi,

My daughter has accidentally managed to kill her Acer gaming desktop it has a blank screen after updating and when you press the power button the fans spin, light comes on and it makes 1 long and 1 short beep and no attempt to boot.

All basic troubleshooting has been done we replaced CPU, GPU and RAM from a working machine and no joy, I also noticed a post on here with the same issue and it was the BIOS. I am pretty sure also because it was doing a BIOS update that stopped it working, she knocked the keyboard out by accident during the update and the screen just went blank when it hadn't finished then after that we got the above.

I have attached a BIOS backup I dumped earlier, 3 dumps and a verify each time and compared the 3 dumps and they were identical so I am confident that it is a good dump, I dumped it with a T48 programmer without incident, I also opened it with UEFI tool and have been trying to make a BIOS from the Acer file but have been unable to make a BIOS file that successfully booted using the backup and the firmware CAP file downloaded from the Acer site, so I was hoping somebody with more experience could help me out with a dump that will work as I am sure it is something I am doing wrong with the tool set.

    Model: Acer Nitro 50-640-E
    SNID: 21301031996
    S/N: DGE2VEK0032130284F9600

    Thanks

    Mods,

Just noticed I made a typo in the subject, this is a 50-640E but I can't edit or delete the post to correct, if possible could it be corrected or for any reader the machine model in the post 50-640E is actually the correct model number.

    Thanks

Yeah the problem with the Acer BIOS image is it is not complete, the CAP file contains the BIOS but several other parts are missing. I have tried hex editing in the BIOS region to the above dump for example, modifying the NVRam area with this machine settings, and things like that but nothing is bringing it back to life! If anything I make it worse as it goes from the beep code when it has it's own flash installed to just powering up for a few seconds then rebooting, if I put the original dump back on it then starts the beep codes again.

I am not sure how to merge the dump file with the BIOS and get it to work, I think I am missing something in this area. I had a look at the other thread with a fixed BIOS in it that fixed the issue but no joy.
