HANNSG Hi221 -- 2 secs to black feat. CCFL flicker & "burn" marks on power board
      by ttmi100x
      Greetings everyone,

I have a HANNSG Hi221 monitor that exhibits two seconds to black issues (backlight goes off, display is still on as confirmed by shining a flashlight on it) with some additional oddities...

The monitor failed on me with a standard "2 seconds to black" some time ago prompting me to initially replace most of the electrolytic capacitors (some of them were bulging/leaking).
Things kinda sorta worked for a night, then the problem returned along with some flickering and "buzzing" noises.

      Upon closer inspection...

Insignia NS-43D420NA20 backlight on no display - LCD panel burn failure
      by howardc64
Eventually discovered a burn mark near lower corner of LCD. Here is a summary
      • Backlight on, no image
      • Disconnect right buffer board (view from front), left side display comes on
      • Masked off pin 7+8 (both ~12,5v on both left and right buffer board) from t-con to right buffer board (view from front) display works but have some lines
      • Buffer board is pretty simple
Removed the front bezel to examine edge of the glass. Found burn mark on lower right (view from front). Plastic bezel covering the burn mark region shows heat signature on the inside surface facing the LCD panel. Last 2 pics. Bright...

need help to modify a bios dumped from set-top box
      by jason0503
The set-top box has a TV silicon tuner IC MXL608, which has a programmable channel selection filter (6MHz/7MHz/8MHz), and the default value is 8MHZ, but the manufacturer sets the set-top box to 6MHZ. How can I change this value by modifying the dumped bios? I tried using UEFITool.exe, but it doesn't work. The BIOS of the TV box is different from that of the computer. I don't know how to modify it or what tool to use. I downloaded the data sheet of MXL608, which mentioned that when the value of SYMBOL is set to 2.85, BW=6MHZ. When the value of SYMBOL is 3.75, BW=8MHZ, but I can't find the corresponding...

Westinghouse TV WD48FAB100 Not Powering On – Burn Mark Found on Power Supply
      by Seville
      Hello all!

Westinghouse TV WD48FAB100 Not Powering On – Burn Mark Found on Power Supply .

I have a Westinghouse LED TV, model WD48FAB100 that is not powering on. Upon removing the back cover, I noticed a burn mark where the AC cord connects to the power supply/main board. In this model, there is only one board combining the two functions. Previous owner said the TV experienced a lightening strike, but who knows. I checked the main fuse, tested OK. Here are a collection of readings from the power supply ports. Looking for some guidance on what to test/check next....

      Sony VA panel burn in
      by dumbdd
I have a Sony 75x940e that I just fixed with the help of the forum (bad emmc). For the last couple of months I was noticing some burn in of the android home icons on dark backgrounds (photo is attached). I always thought VA panels were immune to burn ins. Is there anything I can do to fix it? Could it be because of a failing component other than the panel itself?...
