Hello there.
I have this mainboard (MSI Z590 Gaming edge - MS-7D07 rev 2.1) with these symptoms.
1. SIO_3VA ON
2. ATX_5VSB ON
3. 3VDSW ON
4. Mainboard stucked in Deep_S5 state
Problem:
RSMRST Incative. (Obviosly everything dead)
Tried just for fun to update the BIOS with its Bios flashback function (Push button and USB stick with bios in it).
Main Bios restored succesfully.
When updating Bios all the voltages comes on except PCH which is not needed.
EC Controller: NCT6687D-M
External SIO Firmware on SPI Mx25v2033fm1i-hf
Long story short:
Replaced SIO Controller with china stuff: same behaviour
Replaced SIO Controller with NCT6679D (took it from an ASUS). The voltages come on but the board does not start (different pinout)
Cleared SIO Firmware on SPI and with original controller on: The board starts at full speed telling there is an error on RAM and after a minute the error moves to VGA.
With the SIO Firmware cleared, i lost the Bios flashback function.
Restored SIO Firmware and Bios flashback is on and running again.
So basically i think there is some kind of corrupted EC firmware as the only thing i see with an oscilloscope there are a lot of communication between SIO SPI and SIO Controller and it seem to hang while reading from it.
I am not able to exctract this firmware from the main BIOS (seems its not into it).
With FlashImageTool i see only a EcFirmwarePointer wich leads to nothing.
Now the question: What to do next?
Thank you
