What if any, is an acceptable resistance here?

On this motherboard(and another like it) I'm getting beeps on diode mode at these coils. I posted the resistance readings to ground. At the risk of sounding dumb, shouldn't all coils be OL on my multimeter when measuring resistance to ground?

Undamaged coils will show as a short on a regular multimeter, not open circuit. The resistances you measured there are very likely not the resistances of the coils but resistances of components located between the coils and ground.

resistance on coils is ok. it can go down to 1-2ohm on CPU or GPU main power phase

Much appreciated! I'm trying to hone my board skills more and this helps.

Perfect, and thank you. I've got a lot to learn! I got the wrong idea from what I now know as a bad youtube video. I was looking for a fast way to find shorts on a board. Well, not necessarily to pinpoint the short quickly because I would do that with voltage injection and a thermal camera. More like just seeing which power rail the short was on. I was clearly on the wrong track lol.

645 G9 with Ryzen 5 PRO 5675U | Resistance to ground of CPU?
            by loopster
            Hello everyone, I have a 645 G9 here with a Ryzen 5 PRO 5675U.
This board has a blown inductor component above the driver chip to the CPU coil, and I am wondering whether the CPU is shorted/dead.

Could anyone please measure the resistance to ground on the leftmost coil/inductor to the CPU?
My resistance value is 2.2 Ohms, which doesn't look good to me.

Thanks to everyone willing to give a value.

            Hello,
I have a Dell G15 ryzen edition (ryzen 5) that turns on but won't post, black screen, keyboard lights on, caps lock led on, fans turns and the battery indicating light is showing 2amber and 1 white according to dell website it's a cpu failure, but i tried few basic things before i open it up i tested the screen by pressing the d button before powering it up but it didn't show anything i tried the ctrl+esc for bios recovery but still black screen i tried refreshing the screen, i plugged it on an external monitor but same thing. Next step i unplugged the battery and kept pressing the...

Lenovo Thinkpad P72 EP720 NM-B723 MB - Power disabled within 2 seconds after plugging the charger
            by Mita99
            Hi,

Try to repair a Thinkpad P72 EP720 NM-B723 MB with I7-8850H processor and N18E-Q1-KB-A1 (P3200) GPU with 6GB memory. Unfortunately there is noinfo what happened to the laptop. I got it disassembled with parts missing, like keyboard, battery.

Unfortunately I have no schematic available for me (requested in the sub porum) but got the boardview file.

Symptom: after connecting to the charger the power led light up for one-two second and switch off. After a couple secons the power led light up for half a second and switch off. No battery, no IO board, no...

            Xbox Series X
            by ryogadan78
            Good morning guys,
I am resuming an old service on an Xbox X Series that I really want to repair. I summarise what has been done because I can't find my previous post.

The Xbox initially did not turn on, no LED, no beep. Found short circuit on the 12V connector on the bottom board. Injecting 1.5V on the positive side of one of the shorted capacitors to find with the thermal camera which capacitor was shorted, no gave me useful information. The board draws 2.80A (1.5V), but from the thermal camera images I don't see any component getting hot.
I removed the coils one by...

            820-01700 PPVCC_S0_CPU normal resistance to ground/diode reading?
            by karoliens
I am working on this board that has some water damage though not around this rail but I measured it anyway to rule out that CPU is not fried.
Resistance to ground on PPVCC_S0_CPU rail is 2Ohm and in diode mode it shows 0V.
What is the normal reading on that rail?
            TIA
