    Soltek 54U5

Hey guys I'm back again. Had an AT box come to me with reboot problems. Usually two reboots into Safe Mode would get you to a desktop. Popped the case and found a Soltek 54U5 with AMD K62-300 and 11 crappy Canicons. Remember me mentioning I recapped a PcChips 726MRT that had Canicons. This Soltek was produced in Fall '98. I had some 1000uF 10V FM series Panasonics and replaced the 6.3V shitboxes in about 20 minutes. The machine runs awesome and the owner is happy. I'm still troubleshooting the exact cause on the IBM NetVista A40 machines I"m doing for someone. Will post when I'm sure of the findings.

After updating motherboard capacitors, what to do next (Asrock K7VT2, SOLTEK SL-75FRN2L)
      by dragon3x
Hi, I have some 32 bits computer motherboards that need repair, as they fail to
      power on.

      Here are some examples :

(N.B. "capacitors" indicated here are electrolytic capacitors located in the onboard
      switching supply area).
      (N.B. #2 : I could not find a 3300 microF aluminum-polymer with a higher voltage
      than 6.3 V.)

1 - Motherboard #1 : this is an Asrock K7VT2 (socket A) that still works well. To put it on test
      I replaced capacitors with aluminum-polymer.

Recap motherboards :: Abit KG7-LITE and Soltek SL-75FRN2-L
      by Foetuss
      Hi all

Hope this is in the correct place.

I'm planning on recapping both motherboards. I actually already ordered recplament caps for them, where I will be changing out most for poly's.
Could use some double checking to see if I'm not doing something stupid .

Pictures of the boards are attached.
What I will be replacing with what : (planned)

IBM NetVista Pentium III - USI Motherboard w/ Teapo SC
      by iMic
      Hi folks,

I have a couple of IBM NetVista desktop computers from around 2000-2001. They have Universal Scientific Industrial (USI) Pro286i motherboards, 733MHz Pentium III processors, and a whole bunch of bad Teapo capacitors. One board has visibly bad and venting capacitors, while the other doesn't look too bad so far.

The board with venting caps works fine, while the good looking board occasionally refuses to power on unless it's left for about 30 seconds after connecting the power - even with a known good power supply. (I am however aware I'll need to check the PSU...

      PCChips P63G bad flash?
      by protocol
Starting a new thread as advised.
      https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...ght=P63&page=2

I flashed the firmware of H61h2-m2 rev:1.0 BIOS because

      1. I explored the backup dump file and it was written in there.
      2. Some you tube videos say it worked with their P63G in comment.
      3. And it has same chip and firmware version from and H61h2-m2 rev:1.0

I can still access the BIOS but it is not booting up. Is there a way I could return my previous BIOS backup?

      TIA

IBM Netvista 6790 - not booting
      by carlitosbala
      Hi All,
I'm new in BadCaps, so I hope this is the right forum to make my question.

I come here because I have an IBM NetVista 6790 that doesn't boot.

I have always liked to tinker with PCs but only recently started trying to get into component repair, so I know how to check a PC but I'm at a loss without schematics on what to check when things are not obvious (i.e. a shorted mosfet). Also, I am sure there are a lot of symptoms that for someone experienced will point directly to the issue, but I don't know how to identify.

      So this machine doesn't...
