BMAX B5A Pro fast fan spin + power led but not starting

    Hi all,

since i can exclude a bios fault i'm looking for a hardware problem on this one. I got this mini pc with no power and a blown up mosfet with damaged ground bad. I cleaned everything and drilled the area until the short was gone and i was able to rebuild everything.
When i plug in the power supply the power led turns directly on and i get the fan on full speed but nothing else. I can power the board off with the button.
The coils don't show any voltages and other measurements are marked on the picture.
There are no hotspot on the board and with voltage injection of 1v and 1a on the big coils i get 1v and 0,6a output and the CPU is getting warm.
On the EN pin of the RT3663BM PWM chip i only get 0,3v so maybe there is something wrong with the enable signal? Shouldn't it be 3,3v? So maybe anything i can try or should i replace the RT3663?

I feel like you really need to try and track down a schematic or boardview for this exact motherboard. You drilled into the board, so we have to determine if there were any internal traces running through the layers of that burned area.

If there were internal traces, how many? If it only involved a few traces and they don't route directly into the inner layers of the main chip (CPU/PCH), this board is still salvageable, but it will definitely require running jumper wires.

My advice is to stop guessing. Sticking to a standard, logical troubleshooting sequence will actually be much faster. Check the schematic to see exactly which traces passed through that drilled zone and what components they connected to. Run jumper wires to reconstruct those lines first to completely rule out any broken trace issues .

Once you've ruled out broken traces, look at the schematic to see what that blown MOSFET was actually responsible for. Is it critical? If it's for a minor, non-essential circuit, you might be able to ignore it. But if it's an important rail, you need to mount a replacement MOSFET—either in the original spot or secured somewhere empty on the board—and run jumper wires from its pins to the corresponding components.

After doing that, the physical reconstruction is basically done. If it still doesn't POST or give a display after these repairs, then you move on to checking your power sequence to see if all the rails are coming up. Just take it step by step.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
      by PantherDave
      Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

      Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74 power issue
      by GLISIT
      Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

hey guys, hoping for some pointers to repair an eBay bought "faulty" laptop.

Ill try and give as much info as I can.

      Dell Inspiron 17 (7786) Laptop
      Service Tag: 5J0NHT2
      Bios: 1.9.0

When I received this , it would only flicker on the KB backlight for a second, then off and on.
      Then it started getting weirder!
Sometimes when attaching the AC power supply, and pressing various pre-boot diagnostic keyboard keys... it did try to boot, in fact out of a hundred attempts, the laptop did actually boot into the Bios ! but never has...

Acer Spin 1 SP111-33 Power-On Issue (Troubleshooting Assistance)
      by justice171
I am seeking guidance on an Acer Spin 1 SP111-33 that does not turn on when pressing the power button.

Below are the observations and troubleshooting steps I have taken so far: Observations and Tests:
      1. Verified that all critical voltages are present:
        • 3.3V and 5V are always present if DC is plugged.
        • 1.8V on the BIOS chip is present.
      2. Checked the power button functionality:
        • When pressed, the voltage drops to 0V, indicating the button is functional.
      3. Inspected the flex cable connecting the USB, audio, and power button to JUB1:
        • Confirmed connectivity is intact, ruling out issues
