I have got for repair a Gigabyte GTX 1080Ti which has been exposed to mouse piss, I mean a real living mouse, that declared the PC case for her home. Unfortunately she was not behaving civilized, and pissed on the card making some minor electrolysis demage only to the very surface of some soldering points and leaving some dirt on the card. It was not a big deal, only minor visible effects, only on the bottom pcb side, after cleaning it is almost not visible. The card even started to work, however there are issues with the pcie bus, so the card works only in pcie x4, or x2 mode, never on x16. On some AMD cpus it even is not able to go through POST, and cycles led's cpu-dram-vga for ever. On Intel boards it generally works in x4 or x2 mode.
The pcie bus I measured lane by lane, and tested also with a tester, and no lane is shorted, has correct reverse diode mode test result, ca 230mV. Also all pcie 220nF caps are OK, no shorts, correct capacitance, all present.
I tried also several BIOS files from Techpowerup, updated the DisplayPort firmware, to no avail.
MATS test shows all OK - PASS.
However I have cleaned the card in a ultrasonographic bath, so I wonder, if this did not demage the GPU silicon chip.
Any thoughts or similar bad ultrasonographic experiences on this ?
Is there anythong else, which might lead to bad function of the pcie bus controller inside the GPU, any power lane voltage glitch?
