Hi,

I am trying to repair this graphic card and I am quite new in this (but not a newbie in repair in general)

If I plug the card inside a x16 pcie PC slot, the card won't power (no led, no fans, voltages : PEX, 1.8v, GPU core missing, I have only 12v on coils, 5v and 3.3v on the back on L801)

The card stays absolutely cold.

But I have a razer PCE164-N09 (see picture) and if I plug the card on it, the card works perfectly ! I have a picture and the drivers load perfectly too no issue on windows.

Do you have an idea where to check (quite hard to check voltages when card is plugged into PC)

What can explain the card powers on on x1 pcie but not on pcie x16 ?

Hi,

Found the problem !

It was U3 (1.8v chip) that was bad.

I bought a pcie x16 riser to test card outside PC and found that U3 was not delivering 1.8v even if the enable signal was active.

So I swapped with U4 (leaving U4 place empty) and 1.8v was back.

So I ordered a new chip to put in U4 place and now the card works.

I don't understand why it was working in a x1 riser but not in a x16 slot/riser.
