Got another computer to fix... maybe..
It's HP 530J and has asus PTGD1-LA mobo. It works except the nic is dead and PS/2 ports are dead and the samsung optical drive keeps ejecting but NOT closing.
This looks like lightning damage or surge of some kind.
If I plug something in the PS/2 Ports the system doesn't boot, but if I don't have anything plugged in it boots fine and I have to use the USB to PS/2 adapter.
NIC doesn't see the uplink when a cable is plugged in. I tried to pxe boot, so O/S is not the problem.
SATA, USB, IDE are ok, I haven't tested the PCI slots yet.
I also swap PSU to see if that had effect on the board, but no.
Frankly I can swap the damaged optical drive for a new one for cheap but it's the mobo that needs attention.
I'm wondering if there are fuses for the NIC and PS/2 ports?
Also Could caps be affected by surge/lightning?
