that should be the datasheet on the ic

    DC-DC Converters

    Replacement if needed:

    or here might be cheaper?

you can use this schematic from the link below to share with your powerboard on pages 30,31, and see flowchart on 50+

I know them pdf for manuals are not your model specific, but again have your board exact in them hope this helps... My first helping post

That's TL494, without the " 1 ". That is actually an " I ". It's one of the most popular SMPS controllers. Find where the reference voltage is connected (to positive or negative inputs of error amps). The reference is likely to be 5v in this case. Then check the voltages at the other error amp inputs, DTC and feedback pin. One of those will go high when the inverter shuts down. (The feedback pin will also go high if any of the error amps goes high, so check those first). If any of those four pins i mentioned are at the same level, or exceeding, the reference voltage, then the outputs of the 494 are shut down.

Once you've located the pin that triggers the shutdown, trace it and see what pulls it high.

        See here:
        http://en.community.dell.com/support...px?PageIndex=5

I fixed this monitor with the mod mentioned at the bottom:

[Then added a 2nd 1meg resistor in parallel with the 1st effectively making it a 500k resistor. Seems to be working great. Have had it running for several hours now....let's see how long this one lasts. Will keep fingers crossed ! ]

Monitor has been running 8hrs/day for months without issue.

Thread seems to indicate design flaw in circuit tolerances.

Darn, Dell's site runs even slower than their computers do... Too bad they don't have the whole schematic so i can't figure it out entirely, but i must say this - a 1 Meg resistor looks terribly out of place in this circuit. So do a number of other values there.

They probably only did this because they used tiny SMD parts (1/10W, seriously now...) and they needed to limit their dissipation. Though, 1 meg there will dissipate 1/10W at 100 volts. The voltage on that circuit is probably 20 volts at most. So, 1 meg resistor could have been much smaller value. I call that incompetence.

Thanks for all the good information.
Sounds like I've got my work cut out; I'll mess around with it and try to let you know what happens.

This has been the most informative thread on this topic.
Don't know if it will fix it, but I will also try.

                thanks.
This is a work around that I would not recommend, with a 470K resistor substituted for the 1Meg resistor the under voltage protection is disabled.
                I can't take a chance on it.

                    Not on this monitor
The scribd link in one of the above posts shows the controller being used in a Hudson monitor.
This monitor is one that uses one transformer for 2 CCFLs, and it has to have both CCFLs installed to work correctly. If one CCFL failed in the future and the inverter doesn't shut down, I can see it doing some serious damage.

I also had the same Problems with this monitor, For me the backlights turned off almost immediately after power-up. I tried the fix of removing the R821, and then they stayed on. I checked r821 in and out of circuit and it tested good, however after replacing it with a new, similar one, the screen has been running perfect since. It must have been going low ohms under load. just thought Id add that info for those who might think this resistor is good when it tests out fine with a multimeter.

Seeking Advice: Repairing Dell U3425WE Monitor with Faulty USB-C/Thunderbolt Ports
                          by Borse2008
                          Hi everyone,

Looking for some advice or opinions on what to do with a monitor issue I’ve run into. Apologies in advance is this crossovers a few forum categories.

I have a Dell U3425WE, which I've recently replaced with another model. That said, the original unit is still fully functional in terms of the display — it works perfectly over HDMI and DisplayPort. However, the USB-C and Thunderbolt 4 ports have stopped functioning correctly. The Issue:
                          • The 90W Thunderbolt 4 port (circled in the photo) no longer charges or powers any device, including laptops or MacBooks.
                          • There’s

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
                          by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

Guide me through repairing a Dell p2210f LCD ccfl backlight monitor
                          by DanPoka
I bought this p2210f dell monitor to fix. Schematic is the same as p2210.
Behaviour is that monitors comes on but then backlight switches off almost instantly. If I look with flashlight I can still find the "No signal message". So definitely a backlight issue. Trying to advance the issue I proved that the protection circuit is switching off the backlight by shorting out C3 and resistor to disable the INL chip then re enable by removing the short.
This is where it gets interesting. When I disassembled the monitor to solder leads on c3 capacitor I noticed the backlight flickered...

Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

                          by Jesus Coder
                          Hello everyone,

I have been having some difficulties reviving an old Dell 2408WFPb PC monitor that I received for free. When I first acquired it, the backlights of the display were on but alas no image was showing. After extensive research on the topic, I went ahead and purchased a new t-con board for the monitor. After installing the board, I was then presented with a new screen that was half black and half green (more so black). I have been unable to figure out what to do next as I have limited knowledge of display electronics. Might anyone on this forum have an idea of what may...
