    Sceptre x22wg-Gamer 22" LCD

    Sceptre x22wg-Gamer 22" LCD
Panel: AUO M220EW01 V.0 TN Film
    Power Supply: FSP050-2L02 3BS0144112GP REV:1 E116921 K3502 2SK3502 SG6841SZ BI3101A
    Video Board: AL012 REV.1 MTK810NGD MST9251DA-LF-165
    Inverter Transformer: SPI 8TC00291

Another revision of the FSP050-2L02 uses a set of 4 transformers similar to the SPI 8TT00006.

    Disassembly:
Do not remove 3 black angle head screws in back near connectors
Split front with putty knife working from any corner, no force extract LED from front cover
    Panel: 4 gray angle head
Power Board: 2 gray plastic thread, 2 gray machine thread, 1 gray machine thread to ground lug
Video Board: 4 gray plastic thread, 4 VGA standoff, 1 gray machine thread at HDMI connector

Reassembly: Ensure all buttons click. Unfortunately the monitor must be mostly reassembled to test.

    Bulged caps on power supply:
    C551, C552: CapXon 470uf 25v (runs at 5v, good ESR=0.05, bad esr>=1.1)

Other caps that did not fail yet:
    C664: CapXon 470uf 25v (runs at 12v)
    C554: CapXon 470uf 25v (runs at 5v)
    C1, C661: Taicon 1000uf 16v (runs at 12v)
    C210: CapXon 33uf 35v (runs at 12v)

The video board has a dark spot near C37. C37 tests good.

    C37: Jackcon 47uf 25v, esr=0.06 in circuit, esr=1.1 out of circuit

This TN Film panel running on DVI is as clear as my PVA monitors with excellent bleed control.

One person here on badcaps was able to fix their x22wg-Gamer entirely from the debug menu.

    Hey,

Do you know where, or how I would order a new power supply for this monitor... Mine went out, and I don't know what would work in its place, or if I should just scrap it... Picture 4 of 6 is the "EXACT" piece I need to replace....

Do you have the same symptoms as picture 5?
If so, now's the time to learn how to repair it!

I don't think so?? Sorry, but not too sure what I am looking at in #5 (Bad Fuses???)... How would I be able to tell? It just stopped turning on the other day (no anything when pushing the buttons), From what I do know (very little, lol), it seems to ONLY be the power... SO, I figured if I replaced the whole piece (#4) it would work again... BUT, I am ALL ears/eyes, and would LOVE to know how to "fix" it, especially because I HATE throwing things out, AND Buying new ones... I can take a couple pictures of P.S. if that would help Identify any possible problems... Let me know, and Thanks for the help...

Yes, please take clear photos of your power board.

If you look at picture 5 in the original set of pictures, you can see that 2 of the capacitors (tall cans with X on the top) have bulging tops.

These items can be replaced and will usually result in a working monitor.

As far as the caps go, they ALL look fine, and I can't see any bad spots on the back of the P.S. Mobo... Not sure what else it could be, you see anything???

              Re: Sceptre x22wg-Gamer 22" LCD

There seems to be a hole in the top of U310, which may suggest that it's dead.

Is that easily replaceable? Where could I get one, and would I just solder it on???

                  Re: Sceptre x22wg-Gamer 22" LCD

You'd solder it in, you'd need to find the part number and replace it.

First, you need to work out if it is dead or not. You need a digital multimeter.

will this allow me to test ALL of the caps, and different fuses???

                      Re: Sceptre x22wg-Gamer 22" LCD

No, it would allow you to test fuses, transistors, diodes etc.
You would need an ESR meter for the capacitors.

Take a look in the "Frequently Asked Questions" subforum, there are stickied threads there on how to replace caps. The short reply is you would make a list of all caps, with their values (uF, voltage), dimensions (diameter and height) and series, then find replacements using the original specs as a guideline. There is also a thread in the same subforum that lists places to purchase your replacement caps (hint: put your location in your profile). If you need help selecting replacement caps, post your list here and someone can point you in the right direction. Lots of folks like to use Panasonic FC or FM if they are available.

Mine failed awhile back and I've just started looking into repairing or replacing the power supply. These posts confirmed the conclusion I drew as soon as I flipped the board over. It appears that ebay has two postings for a cap repair kit. This one => http://cgi.ebay.com/Repair-Kit-Scept...item35ab31658d is a panasonic set for $13.95 plus $2.95 shipping. There is another set for $12.95 plus $2.95 shipping that looks like Nichicon caps http://cgi.ebay.com/Repair-Kit-Scept...item35ab10ff7c. For the more bold individuals there is a Chinese vendor that sells the entire supply for 70 yen http://www.microsofttranslator.com/b...d%3D7366330412.
I could likely get the caps from MCM/Newwork or Digikey but I like the fact that the leg work is already done. Both of the kits are from the same ebay vendor. I am thinking of going with the Panasonic set to fix mine. I'll post after I check for a picture.

There are also some big capacitors on the logic board which need to be replaced.

If you want a complete list of al the capacitors and their replacement parts, including the Taicon primary and the small caps on the logic board, let me know I will post it here.

                                        Re: Sceptre x22wg-Gamer 22" LCD

I had a partial success with this monitor.

Only the VGA input worked before, and it still only works now. DVI and HDMI still give me "No Signal".

I changed every single capacitor, both on the logic board and PSU, except for one Jackon 47uF 25V which I forgot to order. I also have only that yellow bridge wire on the logic board but not that red one.

                                        Anyone have any idea?
