    Acer 23" Video Card

I recently open my Acer 23" monitor and noticed that that have about 5 Su'scon caps which are on the list of bad caps. What kind of replacement caps should I get for video cards? I've read from another post that polymer caps works well with video cards so I did a search on digikey and found: Will this work?

    http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=565-3053-ND The caps are

    4x: 100UF 16V Dimension: 6mm Diameter by 11mm Height
    1x: 10UF 16V Dimension: 4mm Diameter by 11mm Height

Please help me find high quality replacements. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Just a minor comment on nomenclature... video cards are what you put into your computer to provide the data signal out to the monitor. The photo you've provided is a picture of the logic board (some call it the mainboard) of the monitor itself.

Are you having a specific problem with your monitor, or are you trying to pre-emptively avoid issues? While polymers will work, they will be more expensive than electrolytics and I don't think they are a direct rating replacement. Hopefully the resident experts can expound on this further.

Have you also checked the power and inverter pcbs for caps to replace, or does this monitor run with an external power supply (in which case, you should check the power brick)?

I also forgot to mention, try to use the image hosting features of this site. Not only does it ensure the picture will be available in the future, but it eliminates any popups that are NWS! (I got a popup that was blocked because it said it was "Adult content")

Yes this is the logic board off my Acer 23" LCD. I am pre-emptively trying to replace these caps on this board to avoid further issues along the road. As most of the caps on my power supply blew out and are being replaced with Panasonic FM. I have never dealt with logic board before therefore I need help on caps that would work with logic boards. Sorry didn't know imgavenue wasn't allowed, but I clearly selected that it wasn't adult content so I'm unsure why the pop up occurred on your computer.I apologize for that.

I got that popup too, please just host it on the forum, if you have to use a third party service, please use imageshack or photobucket.

So as long as the caps are low ESR they should work? So if I use Panasonic FM or FC, they should be fine? I thought Panasonic FM & FC are only good for power supply.I uploaded image using the built in hosting of this site. Sorry the "manage attachment" button just slipped my from eyes...

Got the popup too, but my computer didn't try to block it. Silly thing thinks I'm an adult. Go figure.

For a number of reasons, both health and personal, I will no longer be active on this board. Any PMs asking for assistance will be ignored.

                  LOL
If you have a router, you can install OpenDNS in seconds. It's an Internet filter. It's free.

Wait, let's see... I think it's probably possible to install without using a router. Yes, I'm pretty sure of that.

edit: BTW, there's virtually no software to install. OpenDNS is a DNS server.

Works best with a static IP, does come with an updater though.

I use it all the time as my primary DNS server, though the only blocking features are for Phishing sites.

Not just phishing sites, any sites configurable by you. There's a list of categories.

Oh whoops, I wrote that incorrectly.
What I mean is, I've only set it up to block phishing sites - it can block a whole range of things, as you say.
