Re: Samsung Syncmaster 245BW
I dont know how to fix it. Instead of telling that "I dont want to fix it" you could tell me that how to fix it because i have no idea... Im afraid of breaking the circuit, thats why im not touching it and looking for advice.

All the electrolyte caps in the picture

should be changed (before they leak). I have used 3x3300uF/6.3v (same as for my computer mb) and 1x470uF/35v caps there, but original values are fine too.
About the sound, if it changes when moving mouse (or scrolling web page using scrollbar on right edge) the reason is probably a small 10uH smd power coil on video board, which is located under a metal plate.
Please help me to find out what could make the buzzing noise because im afraid of an any time self destruction.Last edited by Dyingsoul; 04-10-2013, 04:06 AM.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 245BW
Hi there!
I also got a bad Syncmaster 245B.
It had the most common problem: the 3 resistor. I've changed them and now it is working perfectly, but i have a little problem with it: it is buzzing like a bee.
I have recorded its sound with my phone, its quite good quality and you can hear the buzzing actually (sometimes i hit the case with my phone accidently thats why you can hear knock-knock a few times).
You can check it CLICK HERE.
Its not that loud it would disturb me, but if i lean at the back of the monitor, its quite loud and makes me nervous. The power supply board has many clues of burn damage, but the amazing thing is that it is still working... I can see burned solder joints around the two fets and some other components, nearly on the entire board. But its still working!
Now im explaining an another serious damage, I ask for your forgiveness because of my lack of english/engineering skills:
the Bridge rectifier visual problem is the following:
If i am flipping the board and taking a look at the PS panel's back, I can clearly see that the solder joints are loosed, it has solder on it but looks like the joint has been tore off from the PCB, lifted about 1mm high from there, but it is still connecting to the circuit. Looks really horrifying, too bad i did not take any picture of that before the assembly. If you find this important and my description is not enough then i will take apart again and take more pics.
Here are some of the pictures that i took from my board.

If you can tell me what can cause such a buzzing voice, i would change some of the components, but if you say that its safe to use it until i get an image on this then ill get over it.
PS: Now im using this monitor for half an hour and it its back cover is hot like hell. (Not burning my hand, but much hotter than any other LCD monitor ive ever met.)
PS2: On maximum brightness the buzzing is more noticable and louder a bit. On lower i can still hear but the sound is not that sharp.Last edited by Dyingsoul; 04-08-2013, 01:22 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 245BW
@doloras, did you check the 15v zener diode ZDB805 (I had it redlined in the diagram I posted) to see if it is shorted?Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 245BW
Ok got the monitor working. Replaced all capacitors, no picture and
the 24 volt line was 8.9 volts. Had a bad 431A ZDM851 Adjustable Precision Shunt Regulator.

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 245BW
I read now a lot of threads about this board. I dont find a solution, i´m now very perplexed.
i read many of the RB801, RM801 or CM... and many more.
I´m not very the best in electronic and i dont what to do now.
I cleaned the board and watched the PDF from budm.
Can i solve the problem if i replace all the resistance?Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 245BW
If I remember well, on one of them I had to replace that little 8 pin chip on the top right from your picture(bottom view of the picture).Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 245BW
I´m looking the threads, because my board is a BN44-00195A and this is a thread about Board 173A
I find a lot of threads here about 195A. I will check this first.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 245BW
I have fixed one of these, by just removing the glue. It was arching between a little blue capacitor and transformer.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 245BW
Hello everyone,
for the beginning i must say „thank you“. One of my two Samsung Syncmaster 245 B is now working.
My first Monitor is a 245B with the three bad resistor. I changed and now it works.
My second Monitor is a 245B Plus. I bought three resistors, but when I opened it, i don´t find the three bad resistors. It´s a little bit a different typ.
My problem is now, i don´t know which resistor i can change to solve the problem.
I bought for this a capacitor-Kit and replaced all caps.
I made same picture.
I hope anyone had an idea what I can do.
Thank you.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 245BW
Thanks Guys
This and similar thread prompted me to to have a go at repair of my 245B which broke down yesterday with same description. ie: blue light no display.
Caps seemed ok no change from new, Changed the three resistors with 68 Ohm 1 watt (only had monster sized ceramic in larger wattage) and now all working fine again.
cheers

Just wanted to thank everyone for the help this thread gave me. It helped resurrect a 245BW RB805 on my board was bad, replaced it and it's worked just fine since.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 245BW
100uF or 120uF would work, but I wouldn't recommend going for something bigger than that.
There's a risk of blowing up fuses with higher capacity values.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 245BW
I think you would be ok with a 100uf but 220uf is taking it a bit too far.
Voltage should be the same or one step higher should be ok.
Perhaps update your profile with country and mains voltage - we may have members in your area who have spare caps or know where to get them/Leave a comment:

by soopacrucialHi folks,
I'm new here and was wondering whether you might be kind enough to give me some advice on troubleshooting the following problem:
Quite a few years ago now, a couple of years from new, my Samsung Syncmaster 740BF LCD monitor starting playing up by making a buzzing noise and then the display would go blank. I seem to remember the blue power led would also go off when this happened but that I'm not 100% sure of. By pressing the power button I do remember I could at first get it working again but eventually the problem would come back. At the time I had read about...3 Photos-
