    k3114 measurements:

com pin 1 red pin 2= meter doesnt change from 1 also cycled through different ohms 2000k -200

com pin 1 red pin 3= meter set to 20kohm reads 10.02

com pin 2 red pin 3= meter builds up and doesnt cap out even on 2000k ohms

    sbf1060ct measurements:

    1) red on pin 1, black on pin 2. meter set to 20k and numbers seem to keeps going up with out stop
    2) black on pin 1, red on pin 2. meter set to 20k and numbers seem to keeps going up with out stop
    3) red on pin 3, black on pin 2. meter set to 20k and numbers seem to keeps going up with out stop
    4) black on pin 3, red on pin 2. meter set to 20k and numbers seem to keeps going up with out stop

    stpf1020ct measurements:

    1) red on pin 1, black on pin 2. meter set to 20k and numbers seem to keeps going up with out stop
    2) black on pin 1, red on pin 2. meter set to 20k and numbers seem to keeps going up with out stop

Q is for transistor. D is for diode. These 2 are diodes (dual diodes).

To properly test them, do this. pin 2 is center pin.

Put your multimeter on diode test.

    1) red on pin 1, black on pin 2. Record/report diode measurement.
    2) black on pin 1, red on pin 2. Record/report diode measurement.
    3) red on pin 3, black on pin 2. Record/report diode measurement.
    4) black on pin 3, red on pin 2. Record/report diode measurement.

Do the same for the other diode.

Report measurements and we will tell you if they are bad or not.

Just to doublecheck, what ohm measurements did you get on the bad transisotr (k3113)?

Can you tell it is cracked or does it look cracked?

Well, IF it is actually cracked, this is the closest replacement I can find.

    http://lcdparts.net/TransformerDetai...ProductID=2775

It is not an exact replacement, but you can email them and ask if they have unlisted stock or something?

Your best bet may be to replace the shorted transistors, try the monitor and if it still fails, try to find a new transformer.

so after googling the numbers on the transformer i cant seem to find anything to replace it.

thats all the markings i could find on the transformer.

Thats what i thought but didnt want to switch up the names. But as i look at it further that black line looks like a crack, im assuming that if it is it would cause some major problems correct?

Unsure. It could be like that or it could be heat related. It is called a transformer by the way.

Because of the small size and limited area, manufacturers use codes to label their chips. The first one is found at

    http://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datashe.../2SK3113B.html

For the last 2, I'll need a close up picture to id them.

If you measured them in circuit and found them shorted, remove them and retest them out of circuit to confirm they are shorted. You will have to remove them anyways for the replacements. Just take a picture or mark up the board so you remember which way they are installed.

    No pics posted. Try again.

If your pic is bigger than 2000x2000 you need to resize. There is also a MB restriction. I think each pic can only be around 1.7MB or so.

Thank you so much for the link to the tutorial on how to test the board a little more then i knew how. So while i was doing the tests it looks like two of the transistors are shorted out. I have the part numbers and ive been looking on the internet now how to find them but so far im at a loss the information on these transistors is:

Also post clear focused picture of all your boards (top down view - both sides). Read below before attaching pictures.

Hi i have a L2210NW and it powers on and shows video for a second then the screen goes blank. ive taken it apart and looked at the caps and they all look fine. i havnt tested them with a volt meter or anything cus im not sure exactly how to do that. Does anyone know if perhaps the caps arnt the main cause for this issue?

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
    by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

    Assuming...

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
    by PantherDave
    Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

    Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74 power issue
    by GLISIT
    Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
    by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...
