Re: Samsung 215tw display cuts out
You dont need to reassemble to test as long as the cables reach the board.
That wire at ccflwarehouse is exactly what you need - I didnt know they sold it.
I dont know about the 3 wire set up & cant tell from your picture. Where do the three wires go to? - Is there more than one bulb in a cluster? May be two live and a common return?

Re: Samsung 215tw display cuts out
Is there a way to test the lamp without reassembling the whole thing ? If not, nevermind, I will try to reconnect the wires to the bulb and test the screen. If that still doesn't work, I will buy some cable...
Do those two fit ? As I have three wires, I don't know which one is the low voltage, and which one is the high voltage... what is the utility of the third one ?
I'm not afraid by some soldering, in fact, the scary thing is to reassemble plastic parts tighten with clips... ouch, I hate that !

Alexanna does a lot of these repairs and he just snips the existing wire and resolders. I have no such skills.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung 215tw display cuts out
Good questions!
Is the wire completely burnt off the bulb?
If not can you connect it all up and make sure the bulb lights.
( I am thinking that if the bulb doesnt light and you want to continue then you may as well buy a new bulb with cable fitted)
Otherwise you will need to see how far you have to cut back to get to good insulation and wire.
I dont know if there is anywhere near you where you can buy the wire.
There is a lot of computer box modding and car modding with ccfls so you might have a computer shop or garage that might sell it.
Alternatively there is Ebay - My French is not up to it and I dont even understand the selling types but this would probably give you enough wire
depending on how bad any other cables are

You might be able to find better/cheaper alternativesLeave a comment:

OK ; I will take the multimeter back to my work, as it ain't mine.
I will try to have a look to those lamps ; I don't have any spare, anyway... maybe I will be able to see if one is burnt.

Re: Samsung 215tw display cuts out
Yes, transformers look ok so ccfls are next. There are a number of posts in this thread where the wiring has gone bad or a bulb is out. There are pictures and steps on how to get to the bulbs.
Before you start check the lamp connectors on the power supply make sure they are not burnt and you have good contact. Also IF you have a spare lamp and connector you may be able to confirm a lamp is the problem before disassembly.
You need lots of space and time, Bulbs and wiring become very brittle so extreme care is needed so as not to cause more damage.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung 215tw display cuts out
Here you are
T1 : 902 Ohms
T2 : 904 Ohms
T3 : 918 Ohms
T4 : 896 Ohms
T5 : 903 Ohms
T6 : 908 Ohms
I guess these are all fine. Could it be a problem with one of the ccfl ?

Report measurements for all 6 transformer.Leave a comment:

Finally, I could get a multimeter. What I have done :
- looked for the MOSFET but I couldn't find it... what a shame... where is it on my board ?
- measured the resistance of the fuse (I found one, I guess there ain't a second one as nothing else looks like it on the board) : 0,001 Ohm. The fuse seems to be OK.
- then I measured the resistance between the transformers pins, and I'm also confused ; what do I have to measure, exactly ? Is it the resistance between 1 and 2, 1 and 3, 1 and 4 as shown on the pic ? If this is it, I measured 900 Ohms, 850.000 Omhs and 850.000 Omhs, respectively. Is it normal... ?? This occured for all the six transformers. Guess I did something wrong. Or, the "k" on the multimeter doesn't mean kilo, nor the "M" Mega ?
Sorry to ask such basic questions, but this is the first time I'm trying to fix some electrical material...
Thank you for your answer !Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung 215tw display cuts out
Absolutement!
As you have a picture on the dark screen you can skip testing voltages at the voltage out connector..
It looks like it is either a problem with the Inverter Transformers for which you need the meter or a problem with the lamps or the lamp wiring.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung 215tw display cuts out
Hi,
Hi - Ok - just to check - did you have an input (source) PC
attached?
If it is all connected up can you set up your pc showing
a vivid picture then when you turn on the screen and it has gone black, can you see a faint image on the screen- perhaps shining a torch on it will help.
You may have 2 seconds to black and should read Retiredcaps

Next with it all connected take the voltages at the power out connector. Meter on 200vDC Black Probe on Ground screw and then red probe on each pin and record the results.
Please can you also update your profile with Country and Mains Voltage.
Next step will be to test the secondary windings on the inverter transformers - see Plianbills instruction for this in post3Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung 215tw display cuts out
Still doesn't work despite the replacing of all caps (except the largest one). The symptoms are exactly the same : the screen works for two seconds, then turns completely black...
Any idea ?Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung 215tw display cuts out
Wow, I just checked the prices... it would be stupid not replacing all the capacitors ! It will cost less than 10 €, wire include...
OK, I will try to buy this tomorrow if I have enough time. And fix this as soon as possible.

Re: Samsung 215tw display cuts out
Make sure your store sells "low ESR" caps.
Is there something special to do when soldering ? Got a 50% tin wire, does it fit ?Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung 215tw display cuts out
Once it is said, it looks obvious... many thanks !
I will try soon to buy a new one ; got a good electonic and electric store not far from my job.

Re: Samsung 215tw display cuts out
The capacitor just left of inverter transformer T303 is bulged.
It looks like all the caps are Capxon. Capxon makes terrible terrible quality caps. See my standard answer on replacing caps (regulars may skip)

Re: Samsung 215tw display cuts out
Hello,
I got the same issue with the same LCD screen ; according to a reparator, it seems it is an inverter problem, but I'm not sure exactly how to confirm that.
The problem is the same as Almoodie described : when switching the screen on, I get an image for about half a second, then it disappear until I switch it off and on again. The blue light that shows the screen is switched on is still lighted, so could it be a problem from the power board ? Is it still possible to buy a new one somewhere, on Internet ?
I thank you in advance ! (and sorry for my poor English as it isn't my mother tongue)1) If you get the display to show briefly, it is likely a problem on the inverter board.
2) Do you have a multimeter and know how to measure resistance and voltage?
3) Post clear focused pictures AFTER reading
https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1868
4) Please do not post pictures inline as they slow down the loading of pages.
5) For best picture quality and clarity take your boards to a window on a sunny day, turn flash off, and use macro mode. Take a top down view of all your boards (front and back). Make sure the photo is legible so that we can read the PCB printing clearly. A shutter speed of 1/125 or faster will produce nice clear focused pictures. Try to get a photo that is 2000x2000 resolution or as close as possible.
6) Here is an example of the pictures we want.

After many months of hibernation, I took the time to take some pictures from my cards... here they are, front and rear.
If you need anything else, ask me

Yeah, you're right! After you get into this area steps are a lot easier but every little while there are exceptions with some new design or some small hidden detail which slows you down pretty enough...
But, luckily there are always places like this one badcaps.net, where people are willing to share their knowledge and experience and to help someone!Leave a comment:

by CptChronicI have an intermittent display problem with my monitor, when I plug in the HDMI cable to my (or any) laptop, you see the connection screen shrink on the laptop as it usually would before displaying on the monitor but 95% of the time the monitor display stays black.
Before it cut out all together, tapping the monitor control button a fair few times would make the screen display, and everything work fine.
But now it never does it. Not sure what's going on, hoping someone can help. I'm capable of stripping the thing down and soldering in new parts if needed, or programming...-

Hello guys! I need a little help, I have one laptop for repair, it is an Aorus 17G YD, gaming laptop. Broken display, some cable ripped form daughter board connector, case broken, battery discharged and probably locked, etc. After I did the most tedious job I ever did on soldering back the broken cables (shielded cable) , I measured resistance on CPU and GPU core, 3 and 5 v ps and any coils I find on the board, everything seems to be fine. After I plugged the charger I don't get the power led light on from the charger connection maybe because the battery is locked , but on power button I have...
