Sun GH19PS — bad NT68F63, working dump attached

Sun Microsystem monitor, GH19PS chassis. Originally liquid damaged, but it has nothing to do with the issue at hand, the chassis was rusted but for some reason the boards are completely clean, and the panel didn't have infiltration either.
Turns on only when it wants to, and when it does it freezes after a few seconds on the no signal banner.
No bad capacitors, PSU runs fine.

So I thought it was a firmware issue, unfortunately, it was nowhere to be found. I still tried to read it nonetheless (using RT809F in VGA ISP): lots of read error, couldn't get anything meaningful.
µC was detected as NT68F63, but I didn't really have a second thought about it…
Until I removed the motherboard and took a look at it. Then I realized it was *the* infamous Novatek chip from Syncmaster series. In a PLCC socket.
It wasn't showing the same symptoms as usual though, but I gave it a little bit of heat (well… more than a little, maybe 300°C for a minute), and it fired right up. So I read the firmware again and it came out without error on the first try – attached below —.

Worked without issue afterwards, but I know it'll not last. It's good enough for now, as I don't know where to source good new NT68F63 (if it is even possible), the ones I bought previously (for Samsung monitors) from Aliexpress were obviously not new.

Everytime I see a PLCC I press on it firmly or reseat it. They are always trouble makers over time. I am not sure why you heated that IC, since it is just sitting in a socket, unless there was water underneath it?

Unfortunately reseating doesn't help, it seems to be a failure internal to the IC. Pretty much like what commonly happens in the Samsung Syncmaster 710N and similar monitors (but they don't have a PLCC socket) I'd guess.

Samsung SyncMaster 740n Phase Control Issue
        by vincentedel
        Hello,
I'm having an issue with the Samsung 740n's phase control setting. When I use the automatic adjustment, it sets the value to around 54 (with a range of 0-100), and the picture looks clear and sharp. However, after some time—like after playing a game—the text starts to look blurry. When I auto-adjust again, it may increase the value to 80, and everything becomes sharp once more. Yet, after a while, whether it's a few hours or a day later, the same blurriness returns, and I have to adjust it again.

I'm using the Samsung 740n monitor drivers instead of the default plug-and-play...

Asus K513E no image, bios dump attached
        by f-bone
        Hi guys!

I have this laptop which is turning on but has no image. I have attached the bios dump but I can't seem to find a working one. I also read a similar thread mentioning WBT.exe v314 but no instructions on how to use that.

Can you please help me with a working binary that includes the DMI info from my dump? Or kick me to the right direction to try and add the DMI section myself? I used HxD on my dump and found the serial on multiple places so I am not sure what to copy.

thank you very much in advance!

Lenovo L460 LAN issue after BIOS dump flash
        by bestrafer
        Hello everyone.

I have L460 Type 20FV (2 X 8MB bios chips) with no boot issue after BIOS update (black screen with restarts, common issue on this model + BIOS update).

BIOS dump(s) from this post https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...7&postcount=27 makes the laptop boot absolutely fine, no delays, etc..

But there is an exclamation mark in the device manager for the LAN card right after fresh OS installation - LAN naturally doesn't work. I saw requests like "BIOS: fix LAN" on other sites.
Could someone point on a direction...

Keyboard RGB issue - Dell g15 UEL 2 bios dump
        by slade1
After a bios downgrade, the keyboard's RGB stopped working, now in the device manager the STM32 Bootloader device appears, I discovered that it is the rgb microcontroller, I believe that (STM32 bootloader) is because it does not identify the bios file (UEL2)

Does anyone have the BIOS dump (UEL 2) of the Dell G15? It is responsible for the RGB keyboard.
