    Re: KDS K-92BW Turns off

It is time for a clear focused picture using manage attachments function. Please do not post pictures inline as they slow down the loading of pages.

For best picture quality and clarity take your boards to a window on a sunny day, turn flash off, and use macro mode. Take a top down view of all your boards (front and back). Make sure the photo is legible so that we can read the PCB printing clearly. A shutter speed of 1/125 or faster will produce nice clear focused pictures. Try to get a photo that is 2000x2000 resolution or as close as possible.

Here is an example of the pictures we want.

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.

We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

Green caps, third picture. Those need to be changed.

You may have more than one problem, one is that your power supply has bad caps, another one is that your LCD panel T-CON may not be getting the voltage feeding from the main board or the T-CON itself may have problem. You need to at least replace the bad caps first, bad cap can look normal without having domed top.

Yes. For a start. You can't really diagnose accurately with those caps in there.

                            Hi
1where do i but the caps do you know?

                            http://www.activecomponents.com/Page-Contact-Us_3.aspx
appear to sell good make caps

A lot of NZ members mention Jaycar?

                            Digikey

                            Mouser

                            RS direct.

2how do i check the fuses? do i use my multimeter?

Yes - as you have done - but was not required as it would not work as much as it does if the fuses were bad.

3 can I check the capacitors with a multi meter?

No, unless your meter has a capacittance test on it -
even then its not a good test.

I think you will need to change all the caps except the large one

BUT before you buy caps I want you to test the secondary resistance on the inverter transformers as the board looks
a bit browned I will post where you have to test soon.

Right Power off meter on ohms 2000 measure S1 >S2 and S3 >S4
                              and post the results.

I have also marked in yellow two components Q5 Q6 What is the part Number on them and is the bottom one in your picture burnt or is it just the picture.

If you take more try not to use flash and more natural light.

there seems to be some black by the T1 but I was told that is just because these get quite hot so its normal is that right?

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

                                            Good evening, gentlemen.

I have a problem with my monitor. It turns off after a few seconds or flickers. Shining a flashlight on the screen doesn't show any image, so I guess it's not the "2 seconds to dark" I read in the forum.

To turn it back on, I have to press the power button twice. Then after a few seconds it turns off again or flickers. See video.

I got a HP V193 monitor it has a E59670 now i got a few of these, been using them for long time now, however this particular monitor was blacking out for a few times then after unplugging and plugging it back in it gets back to normal until now its dead.

I tried switching the power supply board with another similar monitor and it works,so I'm trying to fix this power supply board I got some basic in electronics as a hobbyist.

                                            Steps taken so far:

Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...
