Acer AL2416W No Logo, Backlight works, Still no picture.

    Hello Folks.
I have read through every thread I could find on this website and I don't seem to see anyone with the same issue as I have.
This monitor was working a week ago. Then all of the sudden it just went dark on boot up. The backlight is on, and no logo or image shows when hooked up to a working source. The green led stays lit.
Probably worth mentioning that for months before this happened the menu would pop up and stay on and flicker randomly. It should also be noted that I have 2 of these monitors and one of them is still functioning fine.

First I tried changing out the caps on the inverter board to see if I would get lucky. It seemed like everyone else was having luck with this and even though I had a functioning backlight I figured it's easy enough to do so I tried it.
There was no change. My next course of action was to frankenstein my two monitors together 1 board at a time to see if I could locate the problem area. Well much to my surprise, this did not yield any positive results. I ended up taking all 3 boards and the power switch PCB off of the working monitor and hooked them up on the faulty one. Still no Joy.

    So.. I'm stumped..
my next guess is to investigate CCFL backlights, but honestly I don't know where to go. So here I am asking for advice..

I have photos of my Frankenstein job and the boards themselves, but figured they are fairly useless since moving all parts from the functioning monitor did nothing..

    Thanks for any info..

"The backlight is on, and no logo or image shows when hooked up to a working source. The green led stays lit."
Well if the backlights are on but no image on the screen, that means it has nothing to do with the backlights circuit or the power supply board, it has to do with the main board or the T-CON board.
So you do have one working monitor, so if you remove the main board from the bad monitor an put that in the good working monitor, what do you get? Both monitors are EXACTLY the same?

thanks for the quick response.. Yes.. I figured the same thing but decided to cover my bases. I did remove the main board from the other monitor which is exactly the same. No change. Backlight still works and LED green.. no picture.

I am attaching some photos of them linked up.. if that's helpful at all..

and to be clear.. the main board is this correct? I was hoping that was the issue and I could just buy this replacement part. but hooking the working one up did not fix the issue https://www.ebay.com/itm/192429172374

You take the main board, the green board of the bad monitor and put that in the good working monitor, that is to find out if the main board from bad monitor will work in the good monitor or not.
You also have T-CON board on the LCD panel that is under the main chassis, it is connected to the main board by that white flat cable, if the T-CON is bad then you will not get the image, or may be the cable came off on the LCD panel side. Make sure that white flat cable is seated properly and not damaged.

Great suggestions... I am currently using my second monitor to write this message so I will have to shut down and tear this thing down again to try the main board in the good monitor. I will start by pulling the chassis and checking out the T-CON board.. thanks again for pointing me in this direction..

I will report back with my findings..

I have a feeling it has to do with the T-CON board, may be the cable just comes loose.

Re: Acer AL2416W No Logo, Backlight works, Still no picture.

Ok.. definitely headed in the right direction.. I don't see that there is anything wrong with the T-CON board or the way the cables were seated. But after pulling the thin white cable for inspection and a reseat I see that there is some serious corrosion on the right side.. I cleaned this up a bit and re-seated it. Did the same on the other side and the damn clip broke off.. it was really brittle kinda dry rot action. So with me pushing my finger back on the main board flat cable connection I was able to get some funky fuzz on the screen which is more than I have seen so far. So here's to one success!

Now what to do? I am guessing I need to replace that white flat cable. It feels weak and has major damage to the side going into the T-CON board. Is it possible to strip these back a bit and re-seat? seems sketchy.. but maybe possible? Otherwise I will have to find a replacement for it somewhere.

Lastly I think I will need to find a way to fix that clip on my main board. Doesn't seem like that flat cable will seat nicely without the pressure created by that clip.. Know of any workarounds for that?

some pics of the cable and the fuzz attached..

Here is the service manual for your monitor.

The first thing I would do is rule out that the TCon board is still ok. What you suspect as corrosion on the flat cable, looks to me as a short (I think those are the VDD lines) that burnt the cable.

So good mainboard and good cable into bad monitor Tcon board - see if it works ok. If not, your problem is on the Tcon board (aside the connectors and cable).

Warning, before installing the good mainboard and good cable into the bad monitor's, inspect very carefully the connector on the bad monitor Tcon board (with a 5X or 10X loupe), inside the connector especially where the 3 traces were corroded (or burnt) to make sure there is nothing in the connector that could short the cable again.

Also, did you check F1 on the Tcon board, you can see it very clearly of you 1st pic in you second set of photos.

                Let us know.

Re: Acer AL2416W No Logo, Backlight works, Still no picture.

Thanks for the info and the manual..

After fiddling around some more.. and stripping back the flat white cable I was able to get an almost perfect picture but would have to hold the cable in place perfectly on the main board as the clip is broken. There were moments when the screen looked flawless which makes me believe the T-con board might be ok? Not sure.. you are right though.. those contacts look a little burnt in there..

I did my best to patch it up and hold the cable in a good position but it's not gonna hold.. The monitor is all fuzz when turned on at the moment..

I suppose my question at this point is

                  1) Do I order a new Main board just to get an operational clip
                  2) Do I order a new cable and Mainboard?
                  3) Do I order a t-con board and a cable..?
                  4) Do I order all 3?

not sure which to do.. there is a mainboard on ebay for $30 which I don't mind paying, but I don't see a t-con replacement that is affordable.. there is one in the UK but it will be $50 after shipping..

any ideas are welcome.. thanks much!

attaching a pic of the monitor sort of working while moving that cable around in the main board.. it was hard to do and get a pic..

If you can get good pictures when the cable is seated properly then the T-CON board is OK.
You may try using very thin plastic sheet to shim in the flat the cable so it will be pushed down tight against the contacts of the socket, you have nothing to lose at this point.

As Budm says, you have nothing to lose at this point. The good news is your Tcon board is good, so forget about it.

What you need to do is make sure you have a good contact between the connectors for all traces. Budm suggested a thin plastic sheet to shim, well I think this is perfect. Then check if all contacts between the solder points of each connector are working, it not, using very focused and agile hands, you can reconnect those pins that do not make contact with a wire jumper...tough job, but it will save you a lot of money.

If not, a new main board (for the clip) and a flat cable would probably do the job. Good luck!

Thanks for your input budm and rddube..
I will give it a shot with the shim and make sure contacts are in good shape.. I think a new cable is in order at the very least.. I did my best to strip back clean contacts but it was tough.. confirmation that my T-CON board is good is very helpful info.. much appreciated..

I will tear it down one more time and try to shim.. if no luck I will order the parts..

About the cable: insulation is missing where it's folded 90deg around itself.
So if you get it working be sure to put some electrical tape over it to insulate it from itself and the chassis.

                                Hi,
I have a Dell XPS 9300 that's working perfectly fine with an external display plugged, from windows the internal display isn't detected. At boot I can see the Dell logo then when it should display the boot/bios or whatever the screen goes black (no backlight, no image using a flashlight). I tried unplugging everything on the motherboard except the eDP cable but it didn't helped (so it's not the lid sensor). LCDVDD/backlight power are powered down when this happen, PANEL_BKEN_EC and ENVDD_PCH are also down to 0v. It's weird, it almost feels like the motherboard is shutting down the display...

Hi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.

The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.

                                Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.

                                First replacement T-con:

I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)...

This was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.

                                Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode...

                                Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
                                - sound and backlight, but no picture
                                - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
                                - it keeps rebooting
                                - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
                                - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
                                - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

                                by Verlengsnoer
                                Hi all,

at firs, i hope this is the right place to post my question.

Im looking for a tool to change the bios logo.

everyone knows when you turn on your laptop/pc you will see the manufacturer logo like lenovo, hp, dell...

i know that HP has a build in option to change the splash logo.

but i want to change the manufacturer logo to an own logo.

I try'd Change Logo 5.0, but when i make a backup of an laptop and edit the logo and flash the editted version back on the laptop the logo diddnt change.
