Samsung monitor - 2232GW - power on issues (possibly not a caps fault?)

I have a Samsung 2232GW monitor, it's ten years old and I love the display hence I don't want to replace it (can't really afford to either).

Some months ago it started to exhibit the well known power on issues so I replaced all of the electrolytics (except for the 100uf 450v) with new, high quality, 105 degree electrolytics. Suffice to say that a number of the old caps were bulging, but not leaking.

All was well for a few months but power on problems have returned, a little different this time though as now after a few hours switched off and then powered on, the overall display will be dim but is particularly dark on the left side; it will rapidly flicker then blank out completely after a few seconds. If I leave it like this for a few minutes (blank display, power still on) then power off and on again all is well. So there's a warm up required.

I've taken it apart again, checked the ESR of all of the new caps (they are fine and physically they look fine too) and the old 100uf 450v electrolytic also has good ESR. Not sure if it's worth replacing that (I'd need to order one).

Any thoughts please as to the cause of this latest fault? (note: this only started a few days ago).

    Thanks

Edit: Here's a photo of the board that I found online:

    Model no: IP-45130B

I'm tempted just to buy a new board from China, but is it possible that the power board itself isn't at fault?

From what you have said in your post it sounds like you have a problem with the florcent tubes or with the wiring to the tubes in the side that is dim

Thanks. Where would I buy replacement tubes?

ebay, but consider an led kit if it only lights from the edges.

Is there an LED kit for this particular model?

led kits are sold by lamp length, not what your fitting them in.

Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

Issues Reviving Old Dell 2408WFPb Monitor
                by Jesus Coder
                Hello everyone,

I have been having some difficulties reviving an old Dell 2408WFPb PC monitor that I received for free. When I first acquired it, the backlights of the display were on but alas no image was showing. After extensive research on the topic, I went ahead and purchased a new t-con board for the monitor. After installing the board, I was then presented with a new screen that was half black and half green (more so black). I have been unable to figure out what to do next as I have limited knowledge of display electronics. Might anyone on this forum have an idea of what may...

                AOC AG493UCX 49-inch monitor - Firmware request
                by wattage
                Hello Badcaps Community,

I purchased a preowned AOC monitor that is not working and out of warranty. It was sold as not working. I am looking for guidance on self-repair. In particular, I am after the firmware for the monitor. At the end, I have included monitor model information and links to pics and vids of the issue.

The problem is that it will not display a picture on any of its inputs. And the on-screen menu does not appear. The power button works properly. It powers on with the remote as well. But the on-screen menu does not appear, even when not connected to any...

LG 23MP55HQ LED Monitor turns off after a few seconds or flickers.
                by Rick_1234
                Good evening, gentlemen.

I have a problem with my monitor. It turns off after a few seconds or flickers. Shining a flashlight on the screen doesn't show any image, so I guess it's not the "2 seconds to dark" I read in the forum.

To turn it back on, I have to press the power button twice. Then after a few seconds it turns off again or flickers. See video.

Dell Latitude E7450 Power issues and fault
                by popzeggey
I have a dell e7450 that shuts down abruptly when on and tries to restart. When the laptop attempts to restart, the hdd and wifi led is solid but power/battery led blinking hdd. Fault Description The memory modules are detected but encountered an error.

I have tried all basic troubleshooting steps like removing the battery and pressing power button for 30secs but issue persists. I have tried different fully working rams but issue persists. Any help would be much appreciated
